Which suite level is best out of major cruise lines?

I want our next cruise to move up a level and my husband and I to stay in a suite level. I know NW has the haven and msc had theirs etc, but which in your guys opinion is the best and worth the extra money. We are interested more for the more VIP level like suite only lounge bar and restaurants etc. Want to plan for a Dec or Feb cruise.

I can't speak of the other lines but I sail NCL Haven and really enjoy it on the larger ships. I truly have not had a bad experience yet in the Haven. Haven only pool, restaurant, and lounge really change the cruise to a 5 star experience.

NCL and the Haven/Suites are truly the best experience! Norwegian offers more perks for Suites/Haven guests comparably.

Two years ago I would have gotten out my NCL pom poms. But I am researching other lines and options for my next cruise. MSC yacht club for sure.

Don't get me wrong, my cruise in March on the epic in the deluxe owner's suite was pretty perfect. But I am not a fan of the huge price hikes for booking the suites outright and the whole bid/priceline of the seas structure as well as the latest adding fees to the UBP to suite cruisers.

I guess it depends what you consider 'better'.

YC area includes a normal size swimming pool, alcoholic drinks are included all over the ship and (even champagne on the Meraviglia ) and a dedicated restaurant and lounge for a much smaller price then NCL.

I manage to get a YC inside suite, solo, for my upcoming birthday for €2,000. I priced the same week in NCL Haven (my original choice) and it would have been €8,000.

I hear wonders about NCL Haven service, so it's a tough call.

Happy cruising!

Yacht Club or Haven?

Value for money, Yacht Club defenitely win.

Service in the restaurant, NCL probably has more service but is that good or bad? Our experience is that in the Haven restaurant the waiter, or someone else, come to the table all the time and ask if everything is okay, some might like that but we think that it's annoying. We have only been in the Yacht Club once but the experience then was that they came to the table much less.

We also like that in the Yacht Club everyone has the drinks included so they never have to see the cards when drinks are ordered.

They also have a buffet in the Top Sail Lounge and on the pool deck.

If money is no object, someone recently did a "Star Class" review on the Royal boards (one of the larger ships), complete with the "Genie". That looked pretty good to me! They were treated like true VIP's from the moment they stepped off the airplane.

Before spending the money on a suite on one of the mass market lines you should seriously consider pricing the luxury lines. often you can get your week long cruise for less than the cost in a mass market suite.

I have thought about the luxury lines but decided that a suite on one of the mass market line is better for me.

1. Many luxury lines offer fewer roundtrips and I prefer roundtrips.

2. I like to be pampered but not all the time. On a mass market line I can go to the buffet if I want and be more anonymous and not so pampered.

3. More choices on a mass market line, more to do if I want to do things.

4. More restaurants and bars to choose from depending of what I want that day.

5. I rather have one of the most expensive cabins on a mass market line than the cheapest cabin on a luxury line.

Are you open to anyone other than NCL or MSC? If so I'd say DCL Concierge Class on the new ships.

Although I haven't been on MSC yet (will be this weekend - look for Pebbles review) we will be doing our first YC and I'll be posting info and pics.

Just curious. Is the dress code on MSC as "relaxed" as it is on NCL?

On Meraviglia in the mediterrean I can say almost. Most people dressed very "relaxed" but I did saw that people had to leave when wearing shorts when they arrived to the Yacht Club restaurant, and it was not one of the Elegant evenings.

My last - well, lost count - quite a number of cruises were NCL Haven Only. I just completed my first RCL Star Class in March and immediately booked more. That experience was amazing with the Genie. If I wanted something, she was there. If I wanted to just enjoy the ship, no one knew. For me, it was a perfect mix.

We've sailed in suites on NCL..CELEBRITY..PRINCESS..and RCCL. So far the winner has been Star Class on RCCL. It was expensive, but really fun and relaxing. We booked another one for early next year.

We were met at the port by the "genie" (a kind of "super-butler") who walked us thru embarkation. Our luggage never left our side. We were immediately taken onboard to our room, where she went over our schedule for the week. She had made reservations at all the restaurants and shows, and we were given the opportunity to make changes at that time and throughout our time onboard.

Included in the price of our room: The deluxe beverage package for everyone in the room, Dining at all specialty restaurants, unlimited VOOM high-speed internet, same day laundry service, complimentary gratuities, access to the Coastal Kitchen (the suite lounge and restaurant), water..soft drinks..juices in the mini bar replenished when needed, suite sundeck access (w/ cabanas), access to bridge, galley and backstage tours, no charge for Starbucks coffee at the onboard kiosk, no charge for ice cream at the ice cream parlour (we just showed our card) and extensive snacks delivered to the room daily. There was even a cocktail cart and bartender that made the rounds of the suites every afternoon.

Every evening the Genie would meet us at dinner to let us know what was available to us that evening and the next morning. She would meet us at the shows with reserved front row seats blocked off for us, in the theatre..ice show..water show, etc.

The best service they provided, was escorting us off the ship when we arrived back in Port Canaveral. We were able to bypass the line at customs and go directly to an agent with the porter and our luggage.

It was expensive, but we are only able to take a couple weeks off a year, so it made sense to us. At times it could be a bit overwhelming, but we managed. LOL.

Star Class has been the best suite experience for us.

From what's included this sounds like a winner!

I can't say anything about value for money because I don't know how much it cost! (I guess, a lot! )

We were in a two level, 17th floor, SKY LOFT SUITE with two story high living room, dining room, loft bedroom and two bathrooms. The balcony was huge (however not the largest on the 17th floor). probably the biggest weve had. one part looked aft to the sports deck (mini golf..flow rider..basketball..zipline) great for people-watching, the other part looked out to the ocean. This was not a private balcony. you could be seen by the folks standing on the sports deck below. The sky loft suite and other suite types are located in a special "pod" on the top deck of the ship along with the suite lounge and restaurant. it has card key access with very wide, exceptionally quiet corridors. The pricing can vary depending on how far out you book, the ship (older OASIS might be less expensive than newer HARMONY or SYMPHONY) and the itinerary (eastern vs western). The price works for us because of the limited number of vacations we are able to take thru the year.

Yes I am open to any lines I was just using msc and ncl as examples.

While DCL prices are crazy high, the concierge lounge concept and amenities are quite nice and they take really good care of you.

MSC has a similar concept with YC AND they have a pool which DCL doesn't have. Looking forward to our YC trip.

That does sound really nice. However, doubt we will ever sail RCCL again.
