TAYLORCPA Posted August 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2017 How would you spend your OBC? We may have a drink a day but would definitely not spend $200.
Towel Critter Posted August 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Excursions and/or gratuities.
ryano Posted August 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Grats would take 103.60 if they havent been prepaid. The rest I would probably spend in the steakhouse. 200 doesnt go far.
nchikk Posted August 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Casino, shore excursions, coffee bar, gift shops, Chef's Table, Steakhouse, a t-shirt for Groove for St. Jude...just to name a few.

Schoifmom Posted August 30, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2017 You can obtain anything left at the end of the cruise by using the casino trick. I would stress of whether you could spend it all, there are always ways to spend money on a cruise :)
Port of Tampa Posted August 30, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2017 If the ship has a steakhouse do that for $35 per person, drinks at the Alchemy bar (if the ship has one), spa and my favorite the casino. Cheers and happy cruising.
meatloafsfan Posted August 30, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Casino, coffee shop (and milkshakes), t-shirts or other useful stuff (or think Christmas or birthday gifts for others), maybe a donation to Groove for St Jude.....
evandbob Posted August 30, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2017 $200 doesn't last long on a cruise ship - drinks, excursions, photos, casino - any one of these can use up all that OBC in no time at all.
no1racefan1 Posted August 30, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 30, 2017 I would do the steakhkouse one night, some yummy non-alcoholic frozen beverages, and massage or pedicure! Those are all the things I buy on every cruise :)

It was more about suggestions for how to use the OBC. $200 will very nearly pay for gratuities for the cruise in question and a budget excursion for two, say fifty bucks per person for a tour or beach day. That's a worthwhile gain in my book. To me, 200 bucks is nothing to sneeze at. Excluding gratuities, our S&S bill is rarely more than $200-$300 for a seven night cruise, largely because we don't drink much. We are budget conscious and not everyone is, or has to be. I would be excited about that OBC. I think many would, including the OP. I don't mean to be contentious, but I doubt the OP started this thread to hear how insignificant their OBC is. For some, perhaps it would be insignificant - and good for them, I guess... but for most of us, $200 OBC is something to be excited about.
evandbob Posted August 30, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 30, 2017 $200 is indeed a nice amount. I'm sorry you thought my post meant it was insignificant I only meant to stress how fast it could be spent, and listed some possibilities. I probably should have included the Dteakhouse as well. I didn't mention gratuities since the OP stated they were already prepaid. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
bnorris10 Posted August 30, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 30, 2017 You could always call and have them refund your grats and use obc for it
JennN Posted August 30, 2017 #16 Share Posted August 30, 2017 A coffee in the morning, sparkling water with dinner, a photograph or two to take home, try a pay-for restaurant, try your luck at a slot machine, get a souvenir in a shop...the possibilities are endless! ricew001 Posted August 30, 2017 #18 Share Posted August 30, 2017 I just got off the Victory last week. We had everything pre-paid. I had a gift card and my sister got us ship credits. We left with a $236 bill - all at the spa and on beautiful photography. We booked the private studio for black and white session and it was phenomenal! sanger727 Posted August 30, 2017 #19 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Unless the gratuities were a gift from your TA I would have those refunded and use the OBC. That leaves you with approx $12 a day each. A DOD plus a coffee or a meal at the steak house will finish it off. tomtom5555 Posted August 30, 2017 #20 Share Posted August 30, 2017 I apologize for hijacking the thread but I have a related question. I just made reservations for the Steakhouse and was informed that I would receive an email confirmation. Will Carnival use my OBC for the Steakhouse? Do I pay now or at the time of service? When I pre-book an excursion Carnival makes me pay by credit card even if I have OBC.
peajay84 Posted August 30, 2017 #21 Share Posted August 30, 2017 I never thought I'd purchase any "gifts" on the ship. No one in my circle of family and friends would want a beach towel, t-shirt, shot glass or drink cups. I surprised myself by purchasing a bunch of bracelet gift sets for my sister and sisters-in-law from the "sale" table on the last sea day. We also didn't think we'd purchase any of the pictures but we did find a couple that were nice memento's of our trip. So I guess what I'm saying is that you might be surprised on what you might find to buy with that $200 OBC. Have fun! :)

o-state girl Posted August 31, 2017 #25 Share Posted August 31, 2017 If your ship has a Cherry on Top shop, they sometimes have Carnival gift cards for sale. I would just purchase one with some of your OBC and then use it to pay for another cruise.
