Royal Vs. Signature Suite

Yes, they are upper level and in a private hallway with the Reflection suite. I have only been inside with some friends, but the ceilings are high and there seems to be lots of light; however, they do not have a dining table and the bathroom is smaller. Sorry that I can't be of more help...the bedroom is also a little crowded, depending on how easy it is for you to get around...Overall, I did like it and almost stayed in one last April on a TA. These suites are up front on the Reflection and port-side.

Personally, I would not chose the Signature suites (or the Reflection suite) because of their high, forward position. For me, this is the worst possible position for motion.

I am also unsure about the private corridor. It would be inconvenient if you intend to socialise in your suite.

CHEZMARYLOU, how many will be in the suite? DW and I cruised the Western Med in May on Reflection with my sister-in-law in a Royal. We had a choice between the RS and the SS but found the RS was a better fit for 3 of us due not only to the size, but the extra half bathroom. Overall the RS has some great perks and benefits. As already mentioned it is bigger and does have a large table in the suite. In addition to the perks for all suites there were some other benefits for the RS: large walk-in shower, adjustable king size bed in bedroom, large balcony with hot tub (which allowed us to skip the crowded hot tubs at the pool), great locations on Hump by central elevators, and includes unlimited laundry, internet, premium beverage packages and unlimited specialty dining. Through our travel group we ended up with a sizable ship board credit and had difficulty spending it since nearly everything is covered with the RS...

Whatever you decide, have fun!

Thanks for all the replies. We've cruised in Royal Suites on our last couple of cruises but never having been on Reflection I was wondering about the difference in the 2 suites. I had forgotten about the half bath in the RS which the Signature Sweet apparently does not have. It also looks like there is not a separate shower. We are going to stick with the RS.

We came to the same conclusion as you having considered a Signature suite for our Reflection cruise next year.

It was the separate bath and shower and balcony size as well as the extra half bath that made our minds up....

Having sailed in a Sig suite, and will be repeating the experience again soon, I can tell you that its' forward location is not the worst position for motion. We've experienced far more "rockin' and rollin' " in aft suites on the same deck. 😊

And the private corridor was not a hindrance at all when we entertained.

We think it's a very nice suite for two.

A few other notes...

There is a hot tub on the verandah with a rain head shower above it. There is also a table on the verandah which is large enough that we enjoyed breakfast on it almost every morning. The closet space is not as good as the Royals but there are many drawers which we found to be adequate for our needs.

The Sig suites get the same amenities as the Royals including unlimited WiFi, unlimited specialty dining, premium beverage package, bar set up etc..

Does the RS "officially" get unlimited laundry or is that dependent on the butler... some very liberal, some less so?

I think the "official policy" is not unlimited because of reported abuses of cruisers sending out laundry for friends and family. On out Alaska cruise in a RS we sent out laundry 4 times, mainly because we had 4 days on land pre cruise and I did not overpack. Unless you abuse it seems you can send laundry as often as needed. None of our laundry bags were overly full and I had some items I would not send. This was our experience on other cruises also.

We have stayed in both and prefer the RS of the Sig Suite.

Sig Ste Pros

* Loved the private hallway and the location was great.

* Some mornings we would hop out our cabin and grab a quick bite of food from aqua spa café.

* Full Ste amenities- bar set up, unlimited dining etc

* High ceilings were nice

* Liked different décor

Cons

* The bathroom was nice but not as big or nice as RS.

* The tub/shower combo in Sig Ste is deep...a little tough to get in and out.

* The bedroom was smaller and felt a little crowded

* Living Room had one couch and a chair- not ideal for resting in evening with DH...couch not very comfortable

For some reason we could not get our grove together in the Sig Ste. Some cabins you feel right at home and super comfy- we did not feel that way in the Sig ste for some reason.

Have fun!

Apologies. I meant to key "for me" but clearly my fingers did not obey my brain.

Different types of motion affect different people differently. Forward motion is bad for me.

No need to apologize, different strokes for different folks! 😊

We've enjoyed both the Royal and Signature suites, variety is the spice of life, n'est ce pas?

We have stayed in signature suites twice and RS quite a few times. In RS I love having the second bathroom, but must say we also really enjoyed the SS, funny we stayed in SS this past March and now I can’t recall a table but a lovely sofa, chair and table, it is spacious, we liked the private corridor and being right outside the aqua cafe I would run down for a cup of tea. Both suites are terrific.
