GiftieEtcetera Posted October 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Are aerosol cans of hairspray prohibited? I went to the Carnival site and it says aerosol cans are prohibited, but I'm certain I brought hairspray in the past. Do they enforce this? Is there a safety reason? easyboy Posted October 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Seems a hit or miss. I guess policy on it will be enforced only when in plain sight. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
StolidCruiser Posted October 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Are aerosol cans of hairspray prohibited? I went to the Carnival site and it says aerosol cans are prohibited, but I'm certain I brought hairspray in the past. Do they enforce this? Is there a safety reason? Enforcement is inconsistent and may not, in theory, apply to personal care products in aerosol form. Aerosol cans do pose a safety hazard. It's all a matter of what form or aerosol, under what conditions they are being conveyed and who is conveying them.
winddawn Posted October 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Are aerosol cans of hairspray prohibited? I went to the Carnival site and it says aerosol cans are prohibited, but I'm certain I brought hairspray in the past. Do they enforce this? Is there a safety reason? I've never heard of hair spray being prohibited. There'd be a lot of upset ladies if that were to happen.

maryred Posted October 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Where on the Carnival website did you find this? In the 2 FAQs I found concerning prohibited items, only compressed gas aerosol canisters are mentioned. These type of products mean things such as canned air to clean electronics or CO2 cartridges to purge certain medical equipment lines. Hair spray in an aerosol can is a compressed liquid. Both FAQs were updated just 9 days ago. (The portion in red is my doing only to highlight the section.) https://help.goccl.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4090 "Carnival Corporation Prohibited Items Published 09/29/2016 03:42 PM | Updated 09/22/2017 10:44 AM Objective To maintain a safe and secure shipboard environment by prohibiting certain items considered by the Company to be dangerous or that pose a risk to the crew, passengers or ship. luvcruzing Posted October 4, 2017 #16 Share Posted October 4, 2017 I just booked a flight yesterday and checked the prohibited items list. Aerosol hairspray was not on it, so doesn't make sense that cruise lines would prohibit it. I've traveled with a full size can (half full) for years with no issues. And the liquid hairspray in the pump bottles is inferior.
robin13 Posted October 4, 2017 #17 Share Posted October 4, 2017 I have never heard of that before and just got off the Breeze with a huge can of hairspray and two little travel size cans. Been on 23 cruises and have never been questioned.
collect$ Posted October 4, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 4, 2017 I have been cruising for over 20 years and I bring a can of hairspray every time. Never any problems and it always sits on the dressing table or in the bathroom in plain sight. I have never been told it is not allowed. There would be a riot (of women) protesting if it was not allowed. Elaine
