G&TQ Posted October 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Is there a list of what ships are using the new procedure of having the Sign and Sail cards on the cabinet door or in the mail box? I am looking forward to streamlining check in. Thanks. Sent from my Z981 using Forums mobile app

serene56 Posted October 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Vista is the only ship i know doing this. It makes checking in quick and easy as the person checking you in does not have to go hunt down the boxes for your sign and sail card.
surfjock27 Posted October 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2017 We were on the Vista in December (and cruise again on her this December). They were doing the S&S cards in your mailboxes last year and it didn’t seem to really speed anything up, in all honesty.
firemanbobswife Posted October 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Vista, Glory, Splendor, and other ships that I don’t recall are currently doing it this way. It’s much better.
ultrafighter Posted October 26, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Freedom is also doing it the new way.
firemanbobswife Posted October 26, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Per recent posters it’s also on Sensation and Victory. I believe I heard it will be fleet wide by the end of the year.
Gamecock_Cruiser Posted October 26, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2017 The Glory had it in May when we sailed. Will they be implementing this on the Fantasy class ships since they do not have mailboxes?

firemanbobswife Posted October 26, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2017 The Glory had it in May when we sailed. Will they be implementing this on the Fantasy class ships since they do not have mailboxes? Yes. It’s been reported that they are wedging them in between the wall and cabin numbers. TravelGirlinDallas Posted October 26, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 26, 2017 The Valor had just started the new procedure when we cruised in August.
LouisianaCruiser4200 Posted October 26, 2017 #13 Share Posted October 26, 2017 All of the ships in Galveston do this. Not sure how this will be done on fantasy ships with no mailbox? Poked out from under the door?

monakayk Posted October 27, 2017 #16 Share Posted October 27, 2017 OK....I am totally @ lost concerning this topic ... but can someone explain what this change means? Sorry for being so dumb... but I don't understand what changes are being made with the S&S card.

Sorry for being so dumb... but I don't understand what changes are being made with the S&S card. Instead of getting your sail and sign card when you check in, the card is in an envelope waiting outside your stateroom. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but check in was super fast!
Markmom18 Posted October 27, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 27, 2017 My question: If someone were to take the S&S Card out of the mailbox, wrote down the Cabin number, what security measures are in place? I think the persons last name would be asked. Thanks.
SadieN Posted October 27, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 27, 2017 Wonder if the Splendor will continue doing this when she homeports in Long Beach. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I have not heard of one true issue since they implemented this and think of it as a significant enhancement. As far as getting into your cabin, there is nothing valuable in the cabin until you get there. If you are suppose to get 2 S&S cards and the envelope is tampered with go to guest services to get new ones.
casino-queen Posted October 27, 2017 #22 Share Posted October 27, 2017 I was on the Magic the end of Sept. out of Port Canaveral, and we received our S&S cards upon check in. We were able to proceed to guest services immediately upon boarding, and load our gift cards onto our account. If they start putting your S&S cards in the mailboxes, will you have to wait until 1:30 to retrieve them? I would think that would really cause a lot more congestion at the guest services desk later in the day.
NCTribeFan Posted October 27, 2017 #23 Share Posted October 27, 2017 There have been many threads about this since it was implemented. And, initially, most people reacted negatively because most people seem to hate change. I always love the declarations of "it will never work" and "what about this?" and "what about that" until people actually use it and find it works just fine. All the hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth for nothing. ;p No idea how it will be done on the ships that don't have a mailbox. It was the "old" way on Ecstasy 8/30. Though those with general boarding will need to wait until between 1&2pm to get their S&S cards from their mailbox, there is no reason to wait to go to the GS desk to load cash or gift cards to your S&S account. Just like buying drinks before getting our card, you use your boarding pass at the GS desk. Though without the S&S card it will be harder or impossible to use the kiosk.
