For dessert I chose to try the chocolate sphere and was not disappointed. It is a chocolate ball with good stuff inside. When it is served to you, the server will pour warm chocolate sauce over the ball until it melts and cracks open. It's a really sweet and decadent dessert......

For dessert Patti ordered the fruit plate, and when she asked if it could be plated so she could take it back to the room, they said that they are not allowed to do that anymore. That's the only negative of tonight’s dinner that I can think of. Patti decided to have it anyway……

We got a nice view of tonight’s sunset…….

Though we hadn’t planned on it, we decided that we liked the experience so much that we would make another reservation for next week. We wanted to try the art at the table dessert that we watched being prepared at a nearby table. Here are a few pictures of it to tide you over until next time…..

Afterwards, Patti went to Pixels to check out our pictures before heading back to the cabin. I went to the casino for a while and quickly made a donation. I went over to the casino bar to see if they had the Yankee / Astro game on but they didn’t. I decided to head back to the cabin to follow the game on my laptop while working on our pictures. We had a very enjoyable day and a wonderful dinner!

Coming up next: Our first visit to Costa Maya!!!

Is that a... Cruise Director baseball card? I had no idea those existed.

It's interesting... When sailing on the Valor over Halloween, they didn't have the new menu and plating stuff going on. Everything came out already plated. Perhaps it isn't on all ships yet?

Sorry you couldn't see the Stros/Yankees game. We were fortunate to see the game 6 and 7 of the world series on board the Valor. You would never have heard a casino so loud when the Astros won it in game 7!

I'm so glad to see a review of the new steakhouse menu. I was worried about some of the new choices, but now I am glad that we have reservations for TWO nights on our Magic cruise in February! I cant wait to try the stuffed mushrooms (are they similar or better than the ones in the MDR?) and the chocolate sphere!

Finally caught up on the review.

Jeff, no more standing outside on the Promenade Deck for the Life Boat drill with your life jackets?Great shots of the sunrises/sunsets. Food looks yummy.

Hey Barb! Standing outside or not will depends on the ship. We didn't have to on either the Magic or Elation. It's been years since you had to bring your life jackets on Carnival. :)

The stuffed mushroom are much bigger and better at the steakhouse. I loved the chocolate sphere. Very decadent! :D

Jeff, I know it's been since 2003 on my last Carnival Cruise. Yikes. Princess had there Drill inside of one of the lounges. You still brought your life jacket with you, the crew had you put the life jackets on last. On my HAL cruise back in September, the drill was on the Promenade Deck, WITHOUT your life Jackets.

Ok Jeff, I see you also got the stuffed mushroom app in the steakhouse. WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THE TEA? I was so perplexed as to what I was supposed to do with it! Drink it? Put the mushrooms in it? I'm dying to know if you are smarter than me (I mean that's a given, but....) and figured it out lol

The photos of the steakhouse look amazing and I can't wait to try the new menu. We had out Sunday on the Pride so maybe it'll be a surprise and they'll have it! Can't wait to keep reading along

Thanks for reading! Hope they have the new menu. Enjoy your cruise on my favorite ship!

Eager to see Elation pics and reviews! Thanks for your amazing detail.

Thanks for following along! Have patience as I promise I will get there eventually and you can be assured that we covered the Elation in great detail also. We loved the Elation!

I don't know who's smarter, but I dipped my mushrooms into it and it was good! Don't know if that was right or not but that's what I did! :D

Day # 6 - Costa Maya ( 7am to 2pm ) – 10/12/17.

Here are today’s Fun Times……

We were awakened at 6am by the vibrations of the thrusters as Captain Marchetti maneuvered the Magic into Costa Maya. Once we docked we fell back to sleep until 7:30am. It was still dark out and didn’t get light outside until almost 8am. We are seriously thinking about cancelling our AI at Barefoot Beach next week because there just wouldn’t be enough time to make it worthwhile with the 2pm departure.

Today it is a cloudy, rainy kind of day. I do not plan to get off the ship today, but Patti wants to head ashore and explore a little bit, which means taking loads of pictures! As she prepared to leave the ship, she decided it would be a good time to get some pictures of venues she hadn’t covered yet. She started with the Lower Magical Way, Deck4 aft…..

We’ll get back to Patti shortly, but in the meantime I grabbed the other camera and made my way up to the Blue Iguana Cantina to get myself a breakfast burrito. Once up on the Lido Deck I saw that the towel creatures had invaded the Beach Pool area…..
