HAL Website - Wonky Again

I renewed my passport last year, so I need to check the info on file in the online check-in for my upcoming cruise, and also make a Pinnacle Grill reservation. When I tried to get into online check-in, I got the spinning "wheel of death" and then a pop up box that said "Close" in green. I clicked Close and it gave me an error message. Similar things keep happening. What's up?

I'm trying to look at air for a couple of cruises next year and can't get in either. Saw a message that they'll be doing work on the website this weekend but in the mean time, doesn't help us today, does it?

Zelker, I saw that same message about down time this weekend, which is why I was trying to get in there NOW. In the meantime, I renewed my driver's license online, so I'm glad someone's website is working.

logged in then went to booking part...wants my mariner number which of course it already has as i am logged in but obviously software not capable of figuring that out...so have to go to mariner section fill out boxes and up comes my mariner number...cut and paste number .back to booking site and paste mariner number into box...says number not valid...go back to mariner again and copy down 9 digit mariner number and punch in one number at a time and it accepts ok...then back to booking where it then goes into the spinning circle of nothing burger....gave up

how many huge corporations spend untold money on IT specialists that can't seem to put up a well organized, WORKING website....boggles the mind how difficult it can sometimes be to give a big corporation money and make a booking....i often wonder if the execs have ever actually gone onto their corp website and experience the BS and problems first hand....obviously not many or you'd think a lot of the simple issues would have been corrected....

Was unable to log in on the weekend (didn't recognize my e-mail address). That was fixed but now unable to buy any dining option since the page won't load (tried Explorer and FireFox). Oh well.

Current message on the HAL site:

Due to scheduled maintenance November 2th from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. PST, the website will at times be unavailable, including Online Check-In and booking cruises, shore excursions, dining and gifts. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Obviously that's today ... could have sworn it said November 4th earlier. Anyway, guess they're working on it and hopefully it won't last as long as it did over the weekend.

Sorry you're having problems with the HAL web site, but refreshing to see that you recognize that this problem is not unique to HAL.

I have been on the web site almost daily over the past 10 days (making reservations & bookings for our upcoming Caribbean cruise) and have not had the problems you described - my uncanny good luck continues, I guess. Wish I could solve your problems but can't, so I'll just say, keep trying - maybe the upcoming maintenance will solve the problem. Good luck!

Zelker, thanks for posting that msg. from the HAL website. Must have been added recently.

I was commenting to my TA last night about how crappy most cruise lines' websites are. Doesn't matter if it's HAL, Celebrity, or Norwegian.

Among other glitches on the HAL website, it bugs me that you have to put in your booking #, and then to do online check-in or purchase something, you have to put it in again.

It did say November 4th earlier. It isn't you, it is them.

I was having the same problems earlier today trying to log into my itinerary. It is working now for me.

So....after wrestling with the website this morning to no avail, I finally got in there on my lunch break. I finished my online check-in (needed to update passport information) and made my Pinnacle reservation.

Dockman, I have never been able to do a copy and paste, I always have type it in. Another little annoyance they sneak in on us.

Early this morning I got the notification I was waiting for regarding our cabin assignment. Wouldn't you know, couldn't get in. When I called, even the customer service rep couldn't access files and said it was being worked on. Computer problems certainly aren't unique to Holland America. It happens in every line of business. (And I do have my cabin number now).

Glad to see it wasn't just me having trouble on the HAL site today. It wanted my Mariner number, but when I put it in it wouldn't take it. Oh well, no hurry for me to do what I was planning on doing. Will just have to wait until fixed.

No, not just you. It's been totally unreliable for the past couple of days. I finally was able to make a completed PG reservation after many attempts yesterday.

So here's a question that may or may not be a computer glitch. Booked an Alaska cruise tour and when I go into my account it shows only the cruise -7 days. Nothing about the tour part. Is this normal? Also how soon before can I actually book shore excursions? hAL only shows $$ as prices.

Posting this again as I didn't get any responses earlier.

Since you have received no answers on here, you might try contacting HAL directly.
