Quiet time to use gym? Sapphire Princess SE Asia

We are cruising for 21 nights in Dec/Jan and plan to use the gym on sea days. I was wondering if there is a time that the gyms seem to be particularly busy and that we should avoid.

On weekends we like to have a relaxed start to the morning then go to the gym around 9:30am once all the gym bunnies have finished their early morning workout. I’m hoping we can follow a similar routine on board.

On sea days practically the only time you could do circuit training without bumping elbows and having a wait between stations is dinner time.

At 9:30 AM the fitness center could be at its busiest. Because it is located directly above passenger cabins on most Princess ships they do not turn on the cardio machines until around 9:00.

What IS predictable is that the gym will be packed the day after embarkation and the last two days of the cruise. Never fails. Toward the end of the cruise, people feel guilty for indulging and so go to the gym to work it off. The best time to work out is around 5:30pm when everyone else is getting ready for dinner. Port days are usually a really good time to go too. Other times during the day when it's not crowded depend on the itinerary and your fellow passengers. What we do is try a few different times during the day until we find a time that is less crowded or go late in the afternoon after 5pm.
