Converting the OLife option to Unlimited Excursions

would have thought once RCI announced this new option to prebook excursions with their issued OBC, it would apply to Azamara as well. However, just because their website hasn’t been updated yet, is it possible to prebook Azamara excursions using their issued OBC if you contact their excursion desk directly?.

The short answer is, Nope.

There are a couple of threads on the AZ board where they keep asking Bonnie, the company blog officer, when it will be happening. She keeps checking but comes back saying they're still working on it. It's been going on for a few months now. It shouldn't be much longer though before you would be correct in adding AZ to the list. :D

Just curious

How much OBC do you typically get on Crystal, Princess & RCL ?

When I read some of the forums people are getting $50 or $100 OBC

Crystal depends on TA but rebate for mine is limited to 5 percent rest is Obc which could be $500 to 700. RCL typical is 10 Percent. So it can be significant depending of cruise and cabin type.

For Azamara. They run bonuses. Right now a Veranda is $400in Obc. Plus they pay their B2B discount in Obc $400 per segment.

Just started this option? Not being billed for pre booked excursions until on board for was the way it was done in the past. We've been cruising for more than 30 years and it's only relatively recently that many cruise lines started requiring up front payment.

Also, passengers being given substantial amounts of promotional on board credit is a relatively recent phenomenon.

Yes, Celebrity just started this within the past 6 months where you can use your OBC before boarding, not just for excursions but for anything you would pre-purchase. I realize you've been cruising much longer than me, but I've been cruising with Celebrity for 8 years, and during that time they've required payment by CC for pre booked excursions.

What you can't do is what you speak of the way it used to be, reserving an excursion and then paying once onboard, whether with OBC or your credit card.

I doubt they change it anytime soon.

Paul

Is that from the TA or the cruise line?

We took a 21 day Crystal cruise last May and got $800 in OBC from our TA we later used to pay for prebooked excursions. Haven’t cruised with either RCL or Princess yet where we received any OBC. However, we were able to prebook all of our excursions on a Jan 2016 Princess cruise and were able to later pay for them once onboard. We also just got finished today prebooking over $1,200 worth of excursions on a Jan 2019 B2B Celebrity cruise using the $1,200 worth of OBC we’ve accrued from Celebrity for this cruise so far.

Was it from the TA or from the cruise line ?

Last April we had $2200 from Oceania (loyalty & O life) for a 22 day B2B

We rarely take ship's excursions so it was a chore to spend it.... but I did

We got the $800 from our TA. We didn’t get any from Crystal on that particular cruise as it was a B2B and they gave us 5% off the cruise price instead.
