So now that we won this upgrade to Haven SPA Suite - How can i get the most out of it

Hello all,

We are super exited to have been upgraded to a Haven SPA suite! This will be on the 14 day southern Caribbean on the BA. We got this upgrade with a poor bid of $600/pp , can't believe it. On top of that we already had purchased Thermal SPA access and now that we have this suite we can get those passes refunded which makes the deal even more sweet! :D

So my question now to all of you "HAVEN" veterans is how i can get the most out of having this level of access.

I have reviewed the documentation on NCL sites for what included in Haven, like the butler (not sure what will do with him) but i guess what i'm really asking is any tips or things we should definitely check out?

Not sure if we will ever get Haven again as i only put poor bids in when i use the upgrade system so want to get the most out of it.

Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciate.

Thanks and Cruise ON Folks!

room service for breakfast (its free for suites, and a much better menu). ask your butler to bring your fave snacks (otherwise, you will get the regular rotation of cookies, gummy bears, etc). we get a cheese plate every night delivered around 9pm, so its perfect room temp by midnight. order pizza a few late nights. watch the free pay per view movies.

Bidding usually starts about 80 days out from your sailing date. FYI....Not everyone gets the offer

Never been to the Haven.. but I'd recommend never leaving the Haven and let the rest of us non haven booked folks have the run of the rest of the ship....Just kidding. Sweet deal on that bid you made. I honestly believe to get the most out of your experience just go in with an open mind and have fun.. Ask your butler what he can do - be friendly to them that is what goes the farthest with anyone.

First, congrats on your upgrade! Something similar happened to us on our first cruise and, ever since, we have only traveled in the Haven -- we enjoy it that much!

My biggest piece of advice is to just relax and enjoy it! So often I see people right from embarkation running all around tracking down the Conceirge, Asst Conceirge and every butler they can find out of some fear that they are missing something. We always just board, grab a drink at the bar and relax and get familiar with our surroundings. After about an hour or so we wander to our cabin and set down our things. At that point, our butler always finds us about that time and introduces himself/herself. The butler will walk you though everything in the room at that point and will ask you a bunch of questions about your likes/dislikes and your daily schedule.

As a frequent CC poster told me before our first trip, a good rule of them is that your butler will handle everything you need inside the room and the Conceirge will handle everything else. And whatever you need in either case, just ask! If they can make it happen they will.

Another piece of advice is to be aware that your butler will be responsible for about 10-12 cabins so keep that in mind when making any requests. We always try to tell or butler in the am if we would like anything done for that evening to give him/her time.

We have been blessed with, I think, some of the best butlers and I'm sure yours will be top notch as well! I do miss our first Butler Ramona and we still talk of her often.

Have a great time in the Haven!

Thank you so much for the advice, yah we are pretty self-sufficient. SO when it comes to the butler or concierge i'm kind of tong tied if that makes sense.

But think just letting things happen is the best plan to go in with. Thanks!

Congrats! You really never have to leave the Haven area. The private pool is amazing and peaceful same with the private sun area. The service in the dining area is amazing. You will be escorted to a private waiting area upon check-in to wait for your personal escort onto the ship. You go up on a private elevator to the Haven lounge where they have drinks and snacks being served. So much more!!!! Have a wonderful time on you vacation!

On 16 you can enter the Haven on the port side or the other entrance is on 15 starboard side by the gym and spa. There is a door, then another door (that doesn't always latch) and you'll be on 15 and you can go up the stairs to 16 where the concierge desk, pool, lounge, restaurant, etc are all located.

Got an email, CC card been charged and I have my cabin number, that’s enough verification for me.

Oh, I thought you said you didn't get a verification email. Great! Enjoy, and thanks for the information.

Sorry meant to say that when the bids "open" never receive email for that i have to check my NCL account online. But when i actually won the bid i did get an email the same day. But i agree with you 60 days out is early i was surprised.

I’ve been in a Haven Spa Suite on the BA two times, and am booked in one on the Bliss in October 2018. Here are few suggestions:

1. Since this suite is not located directly in the Haven, sometimes you don’t utilize the Haven area as much as others. For example, we often found ourselves going to the regular buffet for breakfast instead of going to the Haven for a more formal breakfast. Also, I would sometimes just lounge in the Spa or sun on my balcony, instead of making the trek to the Haven sun deck. My advice is to savor every moment and make sure that you actually frequent the area. I was in a two bedroom on the Escape last Sept. and we loved hanging out in the actual area. Take advantage of the bar that is located in the Haven. We had a blast hanging out there last fall!

2. Since you have the Spa pass included with your suite, you may not use the Jacuzzi in the cabin. Give it a try. It is really relaxing. It’s not really large enough for two, but you can give it a whirl! Some of the Spa suites have a poll next to the jacuzzi. I wouldn’t be concerned if you do. We had one both times and it wasn’t a problem for us. It actually helped me get in and out of the darn thing!

3. Don’t miss your afternoon snacks! Since the Spa Suite is only one room, sometimes you may put the Do Not Disturb sign on when changing clothes, taking a nap, or using the jacuzzi. Find out the approximate time the Butler comes by, and make sure your DND sign is off. He/She won’t enter otherwise. The afternoon snacks are a great perk!

3. I don’t know if this is true for the BA, but on the Escape, Margaritaville is free for Haven guests (for lunch) on the first day.

4. As always, remember to tip your concierge & butler if you are satisfied with their service. They are not part of the Daily Service Fee. I won’t suggest an amount. It is entirely up to you.

my 1st cruise was in haven spa suite. please dont forget to come back and let us know if you had a pole in the room or not. there's a thread on here about that.

i found that leaving a note in the morning assured us of exactly what snacks we wanted in the afternoon.

we never took the phone out of the cabin because we thought it would be weird. what would u use it for? maybe calling the butler and telling him to have your hot tub filled? maybe i'm not demanding enough

bfast every day in the restaurant was great. the knew by day 2 how i wanted my special filet order done. service was always great and i love the fruit cups in the morning!

go to your meet and greet as you may get lucky and meet others in haven and get to see their cabins. i got to see the DOS and it was very pretty. thanks Linda for showing us! We did not want the priority seating in the theater as we thought it wasnt a good location. also i found it a bit annoying to have to come up to 16 to the haven bar for drinks but that was my choice not to be in haven proper.

the spa is very cool but you gotta fight for a thermal chair! never got to sit in one. also its very peaceful and dull in there. so if thats what you want. you got it! during a bad storm the thermal pool becomes a wave pool and its very nice to have an indoor pool since BA doesnt offer one. great retreat on bad days.

bfast in your room on the last day is one of the best perks!

also dont get to the haven too early on disembark day. if you are later you will be more toward the door and out first before the early birds. not that it matters. just a small point.

ask for robes and slippers if they arent already in there. i forget if they have bigger sizes or not

i had Ging as my steward and he was beyond fantastic. i ran into him again 2 months later and he was on another floor doing regular rooms and his wife was even on board. he was a great guy!
