I gave my credit card on my account . They have not credited my credit card yet . I left on Sat Nov 11th Will they credit my card that I left ? That's what I wasn't clear about. If they charged the CC and they are waiting for that to be credited back, or if they think they would credit OBC to their CC which of course they won't. If you have onboard credit (shareholder benefit, price matches, booking promotions, port fee refunds, onboard refunds, etc), then it depends on that OBC type whether it is refundable or not. Some of them are "use it or lose it", and you should not get anything back. Some ARE refundable, so you could receive a check. If you paid with a gift card, you normally receive that portion of the refund in the form of a new physical gift card sent to you for that amount. Although a few times, I've received a check for gift card amounts. Normally they charge everything (tips, purchases, etc) towards any available OBC before using a cash balance or credit card. A credit card is usually only charged at the end of the cruise for the net amount due. (There may be exceptions for casino-related transactions, I'm not sure about those?) I don't believe they will credit a credit card for an OBC refund - that will come as a check if applicable. In my experience, overage refunds have been very fast. I usually receive a check (USPS) and/or gift card (Fedex) within 3-7 days of getting off the ship. Hope this helps! My understanding is that the OP used their CC to start their account during the boarding process. I assume they had enough OBC to cover everything on board with money left over and they expected that money to be put onto their CC (which won't happen......they should receive a check for the amount if it was less than $10). I don’t think it’s right either. Guess they figure it’s an easy and free way to make a tax deductible charitable contribution after it sits in their account accruing interest I would suppose. cb at sea Posted November 18, 2017 #22 Share Posted November 18, 2017 Refunds ALWAYS take MUCH longer than charges....either it will be refunded to your card (give it 2 weeks or so) or you'll get a check, unless it's under $10 or so....they may feel it's too much trouble for that small of an amount. Yes, taking the time to go to and stand in line to get a refund is jumping through hoops. And yes, it is a business' responsibility to return refunds without a customer specifically asking. They do it for a $10.01 refund but not for a $9.99 refund. It used to be $5. Now it's $10. What if they changed it to $100 or $1,000??? Whether it's a penny or a million dollars, it's still my hard earned money and Carnival has no right to give it to someone else without my approval. Obviously anyone requesting a refund will wait until the last day of the cruise to request said refund. Have you ever seen the line at Guest Services on the last day? I waited in one of those lines on the last day to request my refund. There was one person working the desk. I was in line for over an hour. Not the way I wanted to spend the last day of my vacation, but I also didn't want to wait two weeks for my refund. Refundable obc should be returned by either check or Carnival gift card. Look for it in the mail. Non-refundable OBC should be withdrawn through the use of your S&S card in the Casino. Put the card in a machine and take the money from your S&S account into the machine. Depending on how much it is, you can play it or put it on your card.
