Both the Rick Steves cruise port and Fodors guides aren't bad, but these tend to be for a specific region. We got copies from local thrift shop. Cruise Critic has better info, but I can understand why you are asking.

For Panama Canal, the McCullough book is well worth having, as is the Alaska Cruise Companion. These are sold onboard and often autographed by the Captain (we take an old copy to use and get the autographed one to save). They are historical information, not current port information.

If you're looking to stretch beyond Princess, I recommend Berlitz Cruising & Cruise Ships 2018 It includes chapters on every aspect of cruising, plus a full-page review of every ocean cruise ship afloat.

I second Host Jazzbeau's recommendation.

This book is updated annually and I have been using it since the early 1990's.

It provides a nice one to two page summary on most cruise ships.

It has a lot of great information at the beginning of the book for first time and even seasoned cruisers.

I will get a new version every few years.

While it is available soft copy I do prefer the hard copy version which I order from Amazon.Com

The 2018 version was just released earlier this month.
