Royal Princess

Theater shows normally 8:00/8:15 and 10:00/10:15, arrive around 30 mins. early for the 8pm show. Not usually as crowded for the 10pm show

When there is a deck party the show times will normally be 7:00 and 8:15/8:30.

Welcome aboard show may be only once around 9:00

If there is a crew show it will also be a single performance, maybe around 9:00.

Vista Lounge shows are usually around 9:00 and 10:30.

Check the Princess Patter each day for show times in both the theater and Vista Lounge.

In October performances in the Princess Theatre on the Royal were at 8:15 and 10:15 which worked well with the traditional dining times of 5:30 & 8:00.

However the show & dining times could be based on the dining & entertainment staff coordinating the times.

As we mentioned in another post, the dirty secret seems to be that they will only adjust times after the CD gets lots of complaints. So the first formal night you will likely have 2 shows (the times vary depending on the CD). But after many of the early dining folks find that there are not enough seats....the CDs will sometimes totally revamp the schedule so they can add a third performance (only for the production shows). We like Princess....but this is something we do not understand. Because Princess has made a decision to build their ships with theaters that do not have enough seating....the CDs are put in a tough spot. It seems to be policy not to worry about show times (or seating) until they get lots of complaints....and then they react. We assume the thinking is that a lot of those early diners will not go to the production shows.....but if many of them do go....then something has to change. What a way to run an entertainment schedule.

I knew there was a reason I haven't recycled the Patters from last month's cruise. The first night, the welcome aboard show was at 7 and 9:15. The night they did the rerun of a production show, it was only at 7:15. The night they had the deck party, the shows were 7 and 8:45. Four nights they had shows at 8:15 and 10:15. Three other nights (a vocalist and two comedians) they had three shows--adding a 6:15 show in addition to the 8:15 and 10:15.
