Awesome review so far!! I’m sailing in a Super Family Plus on 24 Feb and am really loving your review! I’d love to upgrade to deluxe package but I’d have to upgrade all nine of us and no one else will drink besides me and my hubby... oh well we’ll have to stumble through those fantastica vouchers!

Thanks for such a detailed review so far! One question...did you notice people smoking all over the place or was it kept to designated areas?

I definitely did not notice it all over, and I'm very finicky about the smell. I tend to get headaches from it. The designated areas I noticed were: deck 8 outside the seaview lounge (which I really wish they'd change to the other side, outside the sports bar, because the seaview lounge was my favorite place for a morning espresso and I would have enjoyed sitting outside with my coffee more often -- I generally only did so if the space was empty), deck 7 near the south beach pool bar, and deck 19 at the Miramar bar. Indoors, I hear a section of the casino is smoking, and I got a faint whiff if I was walking through in the late evening, but otherwise didn't notice.

And thanks so much to those following along!!!

Excellent review, keep it coming! A few follow-up questions:

-- Were the "Classic Favorites" on the menu available each night at dinner? If not, how many nights were they available?

-- Was the wait staff amenable to minor changes/additions? For example, if I wanted a baked potato with my dinner instead of the starch, would that be possible?

-- Was there any charge for any of the waterslides?

-- We get a free massage with our Aurea package. Having never gotten a massage before, it's all new to me. Is it customary to offer a gratuity afterward?

Check-in and The Cabin(s):

We next went to take a peek at our cabins. We were assigned three connecting balconies on the 11th floor. I noticed that they didn't have that green line around them on the deck plans indicating SuperFamilyPlus, so I was a little nervous that they'd end up being something other than what we'd booked. But we were happy to discover the set-up promised: one cabin had a double bed + sofa bunk beds, one had a double bed + a pull-out sofa bed, and one had a double bed. The third cabin with just the double bed was the one with the bathtub. To me, the maroon colors of the room and the decor look better in person than in the photos I'd seen beforehand. Nothing to write home about, but nothing offensive, either.

Your Super Family Plus rooms, did they have connecting interior doors, or just connecting balconies? When I booked I thought they were connecting with interior doors as well. The pics as well as the deck plans seemed to indicate that. We booked the Super Family specifically because of that and our toddler grandson. We wanted him to be able to come in and out of our rooms without having to go out on balcony. We had thought of booking individual interior cabins but were unable to get interior with connecting interior doors.

  • Staterooms for Families comprise of 2-3 connecting balcony staterooms

Above is the way they describe it. And on the plans as you referred to they do show the "green" Super Family with connecting interior doors. Or did I misunderstand when I booked? Were you also expecting connecting interior doors?

We are well within a month of sailing and haven't been assigned rooms yet. Now I am beginning to think what was advertised or what I thought was advertised and I paid extra for may not be what I am going to get.

She had mentioned earlier that there were connecting doors that they kept open between the rooms.

Thank you, I must have missed that part. Definitely makes me feel better about not having to explain later about a "I thought you said" moment"!

Yes, I completely agree you! It's better to make sure the inside doors are INSIDE. A parent wouldn't want their 'wee little ones' to have to go outside just to go from cabin to other connecting cabins

I'm curious about how you meant that.

Hi, iambumbo!

The Classic Favorites were not on the menu during elegant nights or Italian night. I don't know if you could have requested from the classic menu on those night because no one at our table did.

Similarly, the biggest "change" we ever asked for was to have a main as a starter, and that was no problem. We didn't ask for other substitutions.

On our sailing, there were no charges for any of the waterslides or the zip line.

I always give a gratuity after a massage. For 30 minutes, I feel something in the $10 range is good, but I'm sure others go lower, while others go higher. I know tipping is a heated cultural topic, so others will have different thoughts--these are mine. :)

Hi LadySpoilt,

Yes, we did have interconnecting interior rooms, so no need to worry there. :) Regarding the green outline: when we were assigned our cabin numbers and I crosschecked them with the plans on the website, our cabins were not circled in green to indicate SuperFamily Plus. That had me concerned, but when we got to our cabins, they were just as promised with the connecting doors and balconies, extra sleeping arrangements, and bathtub. I don't know why these particular rooms weren't circled on the plans on the website.
