Rare vino100 Posted January 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2018 I can't decide between the Pulitzer or the Banks Mansion . Any thoughts from those in the know?
AmeliaF Posted January 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2018 Since Pulitzer is quite expensive, why not getting the best hotel in Amsterdam and one of the best in Europe instead? Im talking about "The Toren". I stayed there once, and everything, from staff to interior, is really top notch at this place. Another great alternative is Krasnapolsky with its historic building famous for its breakfast hall. This hotel is located right at Dam Square. That would be my recommendations for Amsterdam. Unfortunately they have no rooms !!! The Banks Mansion finally opened up rooms that are refundable so I went ahead and booked. Very excited to visit Amsterdam before my river cruise. We loved the Toren! They have spoiled us for other hotels [emoji7]. We have booked a room there for our next cruise as well. Skicruiser55 Posted January 12, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2018 The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the tram and it's just a couple of stops to get there. Probably about 20 minutes total. Make sure to get your tickets ahead of time for Anne Frank house. Sent from my iPad using Forums
AmeliaF Posted January 13, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2018 Yes, it surely is better to buy tickets in advance, the lines in front of Anne Frank house are so long, sure you have to wait for hours otherwise. Another good hotel in Amsterdam is the Krasnapolsky. Most of you must have seen it already, because it is litteraly on Dam Square. I always enjoyed leaving the hotel and being in the middle of the action right away, but this is a matter of taste, I guess. Edit: If you stay at Okura, you have to try one of their restaurants, both are just amazing!
ptrpanpens Posted January 15, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 15, 2018 Love, love, LOVE the Ambassade. One of the very best hotels in Europe and a non touristy location, right on the Herengract Canal. Another bonus is their highly rated restaurant. Not cheap, but so worth it.
jklc123 Posted January 15, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 15, 2018 We very much enjoyed our post-cruise stay at the Banks in 2014. We either walked to many places we wanted to see or hopped on a tram, including to the Anne Frank House.
alidor Posted January 15, 2018 #12 Share Posted January 15, 2018 Also stayed at the Ambassade and really enjoyed it. Probably will be in Amsterdam at the end of the year and will look at staying there again. Loved the location!
