HappyCamper49 Posted January 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2018 I have read many, many reviews where embarkation was a fiasco for Celebrity cruisers in Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale. The old pier has been torn down to make way for a new one that will accompany the new Celebrity Edge ship. All reviews show a one star for embarkation saying there are NOT enough buses to get the cruisers from check-in at the Convention Center back to the ship. One reviewer stated it took them FOUR HOURS. Apparently, you are given a number/ticket for your ride back on a bus. Are there any Celebrity cruisers who have left out of Port Everglades since October 2017??? Sure would like to be able to be assured this problem has been solved! We are leaving April 15th on the Tradewinds Transatlantic cruise on Celebrity Silhouette. Thank you! 6rugrats Posted January 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2018 Why don't you ask this in the Celebrity forum?
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 13, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2018 I agree -- this is a question for the Celebrity board.
CHEZMARYLOU Posted January 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2018 I understand from another forum that the convention center was used when there were too many ships in port. We sail Feb 25 and have not gotten any word re the convention center.
Rare Hlitner Posted January 13, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2018 We were in Port Everglades on the Reflection in November and December and had no problems. RCI/Celebrity do have access to other piers and facilities in the port. The Convention Center issue only happens when they do not have a sufficient number of port facilities to serve the number of ships. I would assume that if you get notified by Celebrity that you need to report to the Convention Center....that you are going to have delays. Otherwise all should be fine. A related issue would have to do with so many entitled to priority embarkation. On Celebrity this can sometimes be half (or more of the passengers) since it includes Suites, Aqua Class, Concierge Class and then you have the Elites, Elite Plus and so forth. If you are in a regular cabin without a higher status in the Captain's Club this can mean waiting a longer time. Hank
