Ocean Boy Posted January 25, 2018 #126 Share Posted January 25, 2018 May I suggest that since the shirt had been left on the balcony because of the smoke it absorbed while going through the smoking in the casino, and the cigarette butt wasn't found on the shirt or the balcony, maybe you bumped into the lit cigarette of a smoker in the casino and that's where the hole was burned. It would seem logical that if the cigarette laid on the fabric long enough to burn a hole, it would likely have still been on the shirt or on the balcony. We don't actually know if it was a burn caused by a cigarette or how it occurred. Everyone has just gone with your theory that a cigarette was tossed or dropped from a balcony above you. The very first post of this thread says the butt was found on the shirt. Do you have any more theories?
Smyles Posted January 25, 2018 #127 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Right, as long as the person who throws it ensures that it lands in the water and not somewhere else. How would you suggest that they accomplish that? It doesn't need to land in water, it just needs to not land on something that can be light afire. A cigarette will just burn itself out. The cigarette isn't going to become a fire, the cigarette will light something else on fire. Same way a cigarette on the road burns out, a cigarette on grass is a risk of fire. A cigarette on an empty metal balcony will most likely just become a pile of ashes or burnt out bud. It is still stupid to throw a cigarette. The fully burned butt was literally melted to the shirt. Security staff took a photo of the butt and shirt and put the butt in a clear small plastic bag. Security told us the cigarette was tossed. Further, The area of the shirt that was burned, would have been tucked into slacks and therefore could not have been burned by simply bumping into someone. Again , the butt was melted into the shirt.
