lbjen Posted January 25, 2018 #426 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Where in Europe have you needed a visa on a US passport where one was not required for a UK passport? Work permits, yes, but as a tourist? I meant to live and work.
ETski Posted January 25, 2018 #427 Share Posted January 25, 2018 (edited) On the Anthem now, 1000 kids onboard. Some of the parents are the rudest I’ve seen. They are the only folks unaware their kiddies are behaving so badly. We once were on board a NCL ship during that week. Lots of children and parents were not controlling their children. Children in adults only hot tubs were throwing buckets of water at people as they walked by. In the theatre they were hanging over the railings of the balconies. Staff or parents did nothing!!!!!. Rare richstowe Posted January 25, 2018 #428 Share Posted January 25, 2018 On our last cruise some idiot pushed all the buttons on the elevator and got off. My wife was so pissed!!!! She said kept mumbling under the breath "I can't take you ANYWHERE!!!!" :) Let's make sure our DW's don't get together to share horror stories . :D
Rare island lady Posted January 25, 2018 #429 Share Posted January 25, 2018 In England a pasty it is a pastry filled with various fillings ie meat and potatoes, cheese and onion, chicken pieces etc. Very, very popular in the upper Penn. of Michigan. Rare island lady Posted January 25, 2018 #430 Share Posted January 25, 2018 (edited) He could be classed an exhibitionist.Everyone has a shower in their cabin so absolutely no excuse for this. The one we saw did not bother with that. He took his speedo off and then stepped into the outside pool shower. And not the type of dude you really want to see in the all over either. ;p:eek::o Yuck! Guess he figured no one could see him. Eyeballs burned! Edited January 25, 2018 by island lady
Rare island lady Posted January 25, 2018 #431 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Apparently Yeshiva week. The Jewish Yeshiva's are closed. Better you than me. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2587101 Live reports from Anthem your cruise by well known cruiser RADIO We were on Oasis last year during one of those groups. They totally took over Wipe Out Cafe and Blaze for their events. Walking by Wipe Out in the morning where they were having their breakfast was shocking!! I have never seen such a mess with food all over the floor. Yikes!! :( Most of the crew were complaining about how badly the group was treating them also. Talked to many that said it was the worst cruise they ever had with rude passengers. Sad.
Oceans4 Posted January 25, 2018 #432 Share Posted January 25, 2018 The rudest collaboration of events I ever saw was when the performer Vince Vance and his fan club of about 200 people were on our cruise. He thought it was all about him. He literally shoved my husband aside in the casino where my husband was sitting and playing at a table in order to get next to one of his "groupies". He threw himself a birthday party on the pool deck and kept screaming into the microphone, "whose the greatest man in the world? I am!", and there was a cake of his head on a pillar. Late in the cruise, one of his groupies told me that they will never cruise Royal Caribbean again because they usually do their annual trip on Carnival, and Royal didn't treat them as special as they were used to. Thank goodness!
Oceans4 Posted January 25, 2018 #433 Share Posted January 25, 2018 On our first cruise about 18-20 years ago (when they still had a midnight buffet with a lot of fanfare), we were waiting in line for the rope to be removed and go through the buffet. A man pushes a woman in a wheelchair to the front of the line, and of course we all move to accommodate. when the rope is removed, she pops up, leaves said wheelchair behind, and they enter the buffet. They come back out carrying about 6 of the dinner-sized plates with those plastic lids on top in a stack. Hops back into the wheelchair, and away they went! Oceans4 Posted January 25, 2018 #434 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Strange but also kind of cute... one cruise an elderly couple would go to the solarium in the morning and he would swim. When he came out of the pool, he would sit on a chair, and she'd wrap a towel around his shoulders, then proceed to remove his bathing suit. Most people were polite enough to look away, but there he was in his birthday suit while she wrung out his bathing suit. Then she would reach into her bag and get him some tidy-whiteys, and only then would she put that towel around his waist before leaving the solarium. (to clarify....the naked part was strange but the caretaking part was cute).

Sorry to share an experience not on a ship, but similar- a large group of European visitors to one of the Wisconsin Dells waterparks changing out on deck :D In some cultures perfectly acceptable. sull87 Posted January 25, 2018 #438 Share Posted January 25, 2018 I forget which RC ship, but while dining at Johnny Rockets in the outside section, crew above us were hosing down the deck above where we were siting. All of the sudden lots water started to spill over onto the tables where people were sitting. There were 4 officers seated behind us. The officers seated on the inside of the booth got soaked as did their food! They weren’t happy! The staff at JR comped our meal and were very apologetic. Not sure what happened though to the crew who were doing the cleaning above!
bradsnana Posted January 25, 2018 #439 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Last time we cruised on Oasis, our cabin was close to the elevators. Every night around midnight, like clockwork, a group of kids would get off the elevator and storm down the hall like a herd of buffalo. Shrieking, laughing, and howling. We will NEVER book a room close to the elevators again!

When Splendour sailed from Venice one of the ports of call was Bari in Italy. Lots of very rude aggressive passengers got on the ship here and we were told most of them were farm workers. The next year Bari was taken off the itinerary.
snoozer of the seas Posted January 25, 2018 #443 Share Posted January 25, 2018 We sat at breakfast in the MDR one morning listening to two of the most self-absorbed and boring couples I've ever encountered, discussing their stock portfolios and investment properties, making fun of the people that they had encountered that worked and lived paycheck to paycheck that shouldn't be spending their money on a cruise. Those sorts of people are usually in debt up to their eyeballs, paying one credit card off with another etc. They talk the talk but they are one missed paycheck or market crash to being on the street. There are plenty of wealthy, down to earth people who drive 20 year old cars and wear cheap clothing about who are comfortable within themselves not to show off. Redrobo Posted January 25, 2018 #444 Share Posted January 25, 2018 I was reminded by my OH of the time we were on Adventure out of Miami. There was a child running around the main dining room whilst pushing a toy Thomas the tank engine. Mother sat ignoring the tuts from nearby tables, as were leaving my OH pointed out the woman now changing the child's nappy with the child laying on the table. The most embarrassing part being she spoke with an english accent.

I promise you that if she had her child behaving like a regimented soldier and no joy in his eyes, someone would criticize that too. Next time speak up and say something if you want her to know she is causing a problem. Maybe she will tell you what an awful day she had and how tired she is, and how she just needed 5 minutes. And you might remember that one time when your kids were little and you just needed 5 minutes and you’ll think, maybe a kid having fun on their vacation isn’t such a big deal. Now the diaper thing you lost me on!
