Increase in cabana prices?

I was just looking at my cruise planner for Harmony in October. The over the water cabanas at Nellie's beach are priced at $579. Seriously? I thought $499 was pricey.

and Labadee isn't the only place to find pricey cabanas. The ones at CocoCay are now $344 for an ocean view deluxe cabana, $244 for a beach bungalow, $149 to rent a beach bed for the day, a 2 person beach lounger is $42. Even the floating mats have gone up from $10 to $20.

As long as demand remains high, they'll continue to command top dollar. I had seriously considered one for our trip in 2016, but ultimately talked myself out of it. I was our first time there, and after reading numerous reviews, decided the money would be better spent elsewhere. Spent the entire day at Columbus Cove, and didn't regret the decision at all.

Since our upcoming cruise includes a trip to Coco Cay, and we had $150 in OBC to spend, I snagged a bungalow as soon as they became available. Thought I had a good deal at $94 out of pocket. Then the Black Friday sales started and the price on bungalows dropped $49, making our final out of pocket $45. Score! If not for that, I think I would've passed, just like we did at Labadee.

 

I don't begrudge anyone who's willing to pay full price, though. It's supply and demand.

Same price...it's booked by cabana not per person...So just one of you needs to book it. The cabana's can accommodate up to 6 people.

I have this theory that 2019 has a lot of capacity, maybe second half of 2018 too, and cruiselines realize may need to discount cabins to sell out (or really utilize casino and other means of booking, to fill up ship). So the more money they can get out of everything besides cruisefare is needed to offset a potential issue with supply/demand.

 

More and more larger ships and smaller ships adding cabins, and maybe some disenfranchised regulars upset with service/crowds/elsewise comparing old to new, may trigger a supply/demand issue. Something like a poop cruise or a few more sailings thru rough weather could affect demand from newbies.

The cabanas also give you other perks, such as water, towels, floatation mats for everyone in your cabana, golf cart transportation around all of the facility, beverage service and tripled the electrical plugs that you have in your ship cabin..

I thought it was high at first but for 4 or more it was worth it..when we go back we'll do it again. Our Cabana attendant Fritz and golf cart driver Willie were great very personable and helpful..

The prices change based on availability.

 

Early, they are high. If they sell out, great for the cruise line. If not, at some point, they will lower the price, until they sell. And lower them more if they do not sell.
