Griller Posted February 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Hi, this will be our first time on Windstar and as the cruise is a week away I went on to the Windstar website and logged on, filled in passport details and next of kin etc. But I can't find anything to print like we do on other cruiselines, like baggage tags or boarding passes. What am I doing wrong? Or don't they have them?
Pudgesmom Posted February 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Don't have and won't need. Its a small ship. See this thread from November: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2563970&highlight=boarding+documents The Windsurf is our favorite ship. I wish we were going next week with you. Have a great time!

wolverineinOH Posted February 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2018 I would have a copy of your confirmation email with you. When we went on our first Windstar cruise out of Barbados, we were not allowed into the port without showing this. On our second cruise out of San Juan, it was as described above. Hope you enjoy your trip!
Griller Posted February 10, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Thanks for that, I hope we enjoy it too, my worry is that we will enjoy it too much and become so totally dissatisfied with the much cheaper mass market cruiselines we have been on previously that we will have to spend much more to cruise in future. 6rugrats Posted February 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2018 That's true, we also needed documentation to enter the port at Barbados.

Redtravel Posted February 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2018 I always bring the confirmation with me. Check your info carefully. Many people went to the main Barbados terminal. The Windsurf was not there. Cruises docking in Barbados can be in 2 different locations. We embarked at the Flourmill,... not the main Barbados cruise terminal. We were the only ship there. The port ran free shuttle buses every half hour between the 2 locations. After the mandatory lifeboat drill, the Windsurf moved( very small distance) to the Barbados cruise terminal. It stayed there until 1 am. It waited for everyone to arrive. With so many ships in Barbados, there isn't enough room during the day for every ship to dock at the main terminal. The following Saturday, Windsurf did the same thing. We were b2b. However, not the same on the next Saturday ( our disembarkation day), they docked at 3 am at the main terminal. Our luggage was offloaded and moved by truck to inside the main terminal. We then took small buses to the terminal. Check your info and go to the right location. Griller Posted February 11, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted February 11, 2018 I was thinking of taking a cab from the airport, I read its $13 US. Cabdriver should know where ship is I guess?

I would encourage you to look at our overall expenditures, after you return home. The mass market lines are often getting you to spend a lot more for specialty dining and add ons. Dinner at Candles does NOT have an added "cover". On our most recent Windstar sailing, if we had needed to pay for all our diet cokes (in cabin and at the bar), along with our specialty coffees and fresh cookies in The Yacht Club it would, have added $300+ to the cost of our cruise. I watch the add-ons clobber people on other cruise lines all the time. Just something to think about.
Griller Posted February 12, 2018 Author #11 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Hi, thanks for that, we never spend money on soda, and get more free specialist coffee on Princess than I can drink, and cookies are freely available but as a diabetic I can't touch them. The main thing we spend on during a cruise is a bottle of wine every couple of dinners. Once again the diabetes prevents most cocktails from being a good idea, pretty much limits me to a glass or two of dry red wine. I haven't asked if Windstar have anything for diabetics other than sugarfree desserts which seem to be on most lines. Like low sugar jam etc. Not a dealbreaker for me anyhow, even diabetics can have some sugar, you just have to be picky what its in.
