Noise Factor on Deck Below Casino and Clubs

How well insulated from noise are cabins directly below the casino (Norwegian Jade)? I didn't think about it until I checked all the decks to see what was where on the ship. Is the casino open all night or at least until the wee hours of the morning (these old folks need their rest).

Should I ask to change cabins to a different deck? If so, should I ask the agent who booked us? I didn't request a specific cabin, but was assigned it.

Thanks.

The casino may not be bad. Beneath a club is another matter because of the bass in music. If the club is open late, even if you can't actually hear the rest of the music, you can get a bass thumping sound that will drive you nuts. At least it drives me nuts!

We haven't found being above the main theaters to be a problem as the shows are over before we go to bed. You can get morning rehearsal noise.

We were directly above the Bliss Nightclub dance floor last week on the Dawn and i was worried as well. As it turned out we did not hear anything in our INSIDE room. I understand the aft balconies can be a differnt storry.

Room 8863

Best of luck to you.

I did send a note to the agent who signed us on.

It's encouraging that some of you found the noise of clubs and such to be muted.

Ear plugs aren't an option for me. My ears aren't shaped right for them. I can't use headphone earplugs either. If I could use earplugs, I wouldn't worry.

You would make any change with your booking agent. If you booked a GTY, or "Sail Away" rate then you payed for that category of cabin but they pick the actual room, which it sounds like is the case. You won't have much luck just getting them to move you. It costs more to be able to pick your cabin, you should call and discuss your options with the agent, but you will probably have to upgrade to choose your cabin. I personally would not be worried about the casino above you, but that's just me, your mileage may vary......:)

Yes, they picked the cabin. It seemed fine but then I looked at deck 6 and found we were right under the casino.

I won't pay for an upgrade. I just won't play those games with them. I asked if there was another equivalent cabin further aft. If not, then we'll stay put. I'm glad that several people have indicated noise should not be a problem even right under the casino.

Thanks to everybody for your comments and reassurances that noise most likely won't be a problem.

We were as close as you could be to the Show room on the Pearl a couple of months ago: we had no problems with noise.

Looking at the Deck Plan LINK:

https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/d...Norwegian-Jade

The two cabins in question 5032 and 5036 are not under the Casino but under a passageway.

If these cabins where under a Casino would not be much of a problem as the deck flooring in

the Casino is generally carpeted resulting in little to no noise unless someone wins the big one

and really stomps the heck out of floor.

NOW however being under a passageway that could be troublesome if it is not carpeted.

Need a report back if that passageway is carpeted or some other type of flooring.

Certainly not an area with deck lounge chairs being moved for daily maintenance i.e. cabins

under the pool deck.

The Casinos are generally open all night in open waters - main activity would be the one arm

bandit electronic machines the other gambling tables open based on guest participation.

Would not worry about your cabin selection - cabins just below you and a passageway above.

Use the link provided to see for yourself.

The bass reverberations inside cabins located above and below entertainment venues can be horrible.....we had 3 such cabins over the years. We changed cabins on 2 occasions.....in one of the changes the Hotel Director was involved as the ship was sailing "full" or so they claimed......he moved us up into a suite! On another one we were moved into a balcony. On the 3rd one, in a nutshell, they said "too bad", although we did get even with them and had the last laugh.

I always prefer a cabin with other cabins above and below it.

I'm sensitive to extraneous noises. And there always seem to be some on a cruise. I've had inside cabins that had crew passageways behind them and I'd hear a carts with (apparently) square wheels in the middle of the night.

My travel buddy has a CPAP machine which does create white noise, which is great, until something gets loose and it starts whistling.

As the poster wrote, I need a cabin over and below me. My experiences have included being under a restaurant. It wasn't the patrons that were the problem, it was the chairs and tables being dragged around at midnight to clean the floor. Also I was close to the atrium on one of the NCL ships with the open atrium plan that extended up several decks, and the "music" came down the hall...so I've learned to not be too close to the atrium if the ship has that atrium arrangement.

Earplugs and noise reducing earphones are useful for me.

I don't suppose you'd elaborate...

Noisy areas I've experienced:

- aft cabin high deck, noise from outdoor venues like Spice H2O on some ships.

- the deck right under areas with lounge chairs - every morning they unpile and push them around - very noisy.

- under outdoor buffet seating - again, noisy with chairs pushing around. Indoor areas are carpeted and wasn't a problem.

- Far forward on lower decks - big SURPRISE when anchoring and they drop the anchor on your side. You will leap out of bed if you are still there!
