panzafit Posted February 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2018 I will be traveling with an 18 year and 20 year old. I know they can't go to the teen club since it is 17 and under. Will they be able to go into the lounges, bars, and Viking Club at night with me? I know they can't drink, just wondering if they can get in and hang out with us. If not, is there any nightlife for 18-20 year olds?

panzafit Posted February 13, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Thanks! I had a quick "freak out" moment that the only thing the 2 of them would be able to do is stay in their room while we are out and about which is what we are trying to avoid (they are boyfriend and girlfriend). Glad to know they can come hang out with us (aka....we can keep an eye on them...lol).
gerif Posted February 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2018 They can do anything an adult can do except drink alcohol. Plenty of virgin drinks to be had.

Iowa_Vike Posted February 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2018 My daughter and a friend (17 & 18) had a blast on the Majesty at night with nightly pool parties. You're kids will find plenty to do. And 18 and above can drink in the bahamas.. :o

ElaineKeagy Posted February 14, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 14, 2018 NCL has an alcohol waiver for beer and wine in international water: “Passengers must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcohol. With the exception of Alaska and Hawaii itineraries, Norwegian permits young adults to purchase and personally consume wine and beer only while onboard and with the consent of an accompanying parent. Authorization will be given only when the accompanying parent completes the Young Adult Alcoholic Beverage Waiver form. This form can be obtained and completed at the Guest Services Desk upon embarkation of the vessel. However, passengers 18 years of age or older are permitted to consume beer and wine when sailing on round-trip European and Australian voyages without having to complete the Young Adult Alcoholic Beverage Waiver form.” Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cb at sea Posted February 14, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 14, 2018 Bars on the ship are not like bars on land. You can bring your small kids, up to a certain hour at night. You can simply go to a bar and sit..ordering drinks is NOT required!

These people are sailing RCI - what other cruise lines do or do not do wouldn’t apply.
KamiKake Posted February 14, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2018 My boys were your kids age on this past Christmas cruise and they were able to come and go into any area as long as they aren't drinking. The adults would usually find a bar to hang out in after dinner and the boys would come and hang or come in and out as they wanted with no issues. My 20 year old son even played Blackjack in the casino with my husband a few nights. We don't have a problem with the boys drinking in moderation, so when we were in port in the Caribbean, they were able to have a beer here and there, so that was a big treat for them. Does not apply to a RC ship. Drinking age is 21 when sailing from a US port - no waivers.
Iowa_Vike Posted February 15, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2018 They can drink on shore in the Bahamas and Caribbean ports, but they cannot drink on the ship. That is correct. Thank you for clarifying. :)

I saw more toddlers dancing in Boleros than adults. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, no carding, no bouncers. Drink, don't drink, no problem.
