Disembarking Princess in Hellesylt

I see the following in my Princess reservation: "Note: Hellesylt is a cruise-by port. Only those passengers participating in Hellesylt tours will transfer to shore by ship's tender."

 

Does this mean only Princess-arranged excursion ticket holders? Or can those with privately-arranged tours transfer off the ship as well during this two-hour stop?

I believe only those on Princess excursions by get off.

Almost certainly only those on Princess tours will be permitted to tender ashore in Hellesylt. They will most likely re-board in Geiranger. It is only a two hour stop. You will be able to get off in Geiranger.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping to save some money and book a tour with a local company but it appears that Princess won't let us off the ship to do so in this case.

Which ship are you on? We are on the Pacific Princess hitting there in late June

You would probably have to have pre-booked an independent tour as I doubt there would be anyone at the dock offering tours. But I would check on the Ports of Call board that covers Norway. EM

Right. But that is moot since Princess doesn't allow disembarkation at this port unless it's their tour.

We are on the 11th of August sailing and that is what I take it to mean. Ie they will only yet you tender if you are booked on one of their tours. I'm not interested in any of the tours, not at those prices, we are looking forward to the sail on to Geiranger and see the scenery on the way there. so it does not bother us.
