crusinpsychRN Posted March 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2018 but it was dark. Had just poured a cup of coffee and looked at my watch. It was really only 2:45am. Rude awakening! Dumped the coffee and went back to bed. Serious screw up!

Dumped the coffee and went back to bed. Serious screw up! You are not alone, lol. When I went back to work after staying home with my kids for 7 years in the eighties, I was exhausted for the first few months. I got up one morning, showered, did hair and makeup, got dressed, and tiptoed down the hallway so I wouldn't wake up my husband and kids. Got to the kitchen, holding my shoes, and saw that it was 2:30 a.m. instead of 6:30. Felt very foolish but giggled as I headed back to the bedroom. Shaded Lady Posted March 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2018 :p I love when that happens at home, and I know I've got hours more sleep before I have to get up for work... on a cruiseship? I'd be annoyed with myself!
Earthworm Jim Posted March 13, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2018 :p I love when that happens at home, and I know I've got hours more sleep before I have to get up for work... on a cruiseship? I'd be annoyed with myself! I don't know. Now, I wouldn't WANT to do it. But once I was up and about, I might say "Hey, let's see what's going on around the ship at this hour." Go out on deck and have it all to yourself. See if the casino bar is still open and grab a drink. Then, when you eventually return to bed, and you're significant other rolls over and asks "Where were you"? Just say, "Oh, out and about" and leave them wondering. (Not recommended if significant other is the jealous type)

Dumped the coffee and went back to bed. Serious screw up! This is too funny, crusinpsychRN! A friend recently told me he got up and went to work at 6:30 AM like usual and didn't think anything of it until he got to work and someone asked what he was doing there. It was his day off! These are great examples of why we need vacations! :D I guess in some cases it takes until a few days into a cruise to fully recuperate.

Dumped the coffee and went back to bed. Serious screw up! Oh no!:') Not quite as bad, but waking up from an afternoon nap on the Pride I looked at the tv and saw 4:50 something and panicked thinking I didn't have much time to get ready for supper and had slept so long. Quickly showered and got ready, then looked at my phone: around 3:30:confused: . My husband pointed out that the small tv screen cut off the edge and time was 24 hours not 12, so 14:50 (2:50), not almost 5.

Rare MistyRo76 Posted March 13, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 13, 2018 When I was younger and cruising with my best friend, we would always book interiors being poor, young adults at that time. She usually slept with a travel clock near her bed, but I wore contacts at the time and couldn't see the numbers without them. One time I woke up and felt awake and refreshed and ready to start my day. I figured it had to be at least 7:30-8:00 in the morning. My roomie was still sleeping, so I quietly gathered my swim suit, coverup and other necessities to take into the bathroom to get ready for our sea day. When I came out (all dressed, of course), she rolled over and asked what I was doing. I told her that I was heading up to the buffet to grab breakfast and then I was going to lay on a lounge chair next to the pool. Then she said, "It's 4:30 in the morning, go back to bed!" LOL I still haven't lived that one down. Misty

BlazinSunsets Posted March 13, 2018 #16 Share Posted March 13, 2018 When I was in the Army we would get 3 day weekends quite a bit. One Monday we had off my friend told me he got up, got ready and headed over to the company area. Then he noticed nobody was there and realized we were off that day. At least he lived in the barracks and it was a 5 min walk back to his bed. Still laughed my ass off at him.

comiso13 Posted March 14, 2018 #19 Share Posted March 14, 2018 I once got up, dressed and was out the door and remembered it was Saturday and i didn't work that day. Lost sleeping in, but was up and active early. If I did what the OP did, i'd stay up, see what was going on, and grab some pizza and soft serve ice cream. Isn't that why they are 24 hours a day? LOL. Rare KmomChicago Posted March 15, 2018 #20 Share Posted March 15, 2018 Went the other way on one of my Disney cruises in an inside cabin that was very quiet, dark and comfortable. Embarked, felt sleepy after early supper, took a nap that first night around 7:30, woke up at 10:30 - The next morning!!! Had slept 15 hours solid, no alcohol or meds. Apparently living in a state of chronic exhaustion without knowing it. Needed that vacation bad! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

cuccicruisers Posted March 15, 2018 #22 Share Posted March 15, 2018 We had had a boozy day in New Orleans and when we returned to the ship my husband and I feel asleep. Hours later my husband woke me up with "if you ever wanted to see the sun rising over the Mississippi now is the time." I looked out the window and it was a street lamp right next to us - we were still tied up at the pier. He did not have his contacts in.....we still laugh about that one. Herbaltees Posted March 15, 2018 #23 Share Posted March 15, 2018 :D Yup, happened to me at home. I was pregnant and very tired. Fell asleep early one evening. Woke up feeling so refreshed, when I looked at the clock I thought I had overslept. Started yelling for my teen to get dressed so he wouldn't miss the school bus. He was laughing telling me it was 8 in the evening, not in the morning.
kona_wahine Posted March 15, 2018 #24 Share Posted March 15, 2018 Lol, many, many years ago I lived in the country and worked in an office in town. I went home after work and fell asleep. When I woke up and the clock read 8:30! I was 1/2 hour late to work! I was half way there before I realized it was 8:30...pm.

Lol Our travel stories are more locational than time. As in being in London, asking what time it is while Big Ben is chiming behind us. 🤦
