beachykeen720 Posted March 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2018 We are celebrating our wedding anniversary while on board our first NCL cruise on the Getaway. Is Cagney’s or Moderno a better choice for an anniversary dinner as far as a nice, romantic ambiance? We will eat at both on our trip but I’m wondering if one has a better anniversary ‘mood’ than the other.
Rare BirdTravels Posted March 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Cagney’s Unless you ar both Meat Fest lovers, having someone come by every 5 minutes dripping meat juices everywhere, a nice fine dining meal at Cagney’s is better.
wizdiz Posted March 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Without a doubt, for me, it would be Cagney's. Moderno is not romantic with waiters coming nonstop to offer you a different cut of meat.
Rare BostonGal35 Posted March 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2018 cagneys! although moderno is my fave, cagneys has way better ambience.
rmurray847 Posted March 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Cagney's...hands down. Both have excellent food, but there's no comparison on the atmosphere.
Lord Reaper of Pyke Posted March 28, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Food is much better at Moderno...but it's not very romantic. Those servers are INTENSE...they do not care one bit if you flip your token to red to stop the meat onslaught.

Food and ambiance much better at Cagney's.
REV_Cruiser Posted March 28, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Cagney's, Cagney's, Cagney's. Did I mention Cagney's.:D :D
floridian1 Posted March 28, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Cagneys for sure!! We found Moderno too salted and dry
Lord Reaper of Pyke Posted March 28, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2018 No it isn't. Meat is blah - overcooked at Moderno, although salad bar is interesting. Food and ambiance much better at Cagney's. Had zero overcooked meat. Cagneys steak was cooked correctly but barely seasoned...lobster bisque was straight broth, onion rings looked like they came from BK and the desserts seemed like they'd been on the buffet waiting for our server to pick them up dry and lifeless. Not to mention getting there right at open it took like 2 hrs the service was so slow. Moderno's salad bar alone smokes any appetizers or sides at Cagneys. Cagneys was not terrible, it's a beautiful room, but it's makeup on a Colorado Steakhouse.
gmbhardy Posted March 28, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Neither. Go to Le Bistro, Ocean Blue or La Cucina.

bmwnurse Posted March 28, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 28, 2018 I agree- Cagney's is where the romance is! Moderno's has many more interruptions (though delicious interruptions....still interruptions ;) )
Rare BostonGal35 Posted March 28, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 28, 2018 funny how people say the meat is overdone and salty at modernos. i think its great, and i usually eat my meat medium to medium-rare. that said, tho, i only eat lamb chops when i go there becuase that's my favorite item! Carnac767 Posted March 28, 2018 #15 Share Posted March 28, 2018 My fave is Cagney’s. My wife’s is Le Bistro. I love Moderno’s, too, but not for an anniversary dinner. But that’s just my opinion, and dw thinks I’m a barbarian.
beachys Posted March 28, 2018 #16 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Cagney's of those two, but honestly I would recommend Le Bistro or Ocean Blue.
Vacationdreamer<>< Posted March 28, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 28, 2018 We had much better food at Moderno on Getaway. But Cagney’s would be less intrusive. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Vacationdreamer<>< Posted March 28, 2018 #18 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Cagney's of those two, but honestly I would recommend Le Bistro or Ocean Blue. This. Le Bistro was a great atmosphere. And the presentation was fun. Dessert was to die for. Just skip the lamb. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
escentialssoycandles Posted March 28, 2018 #19 Share Posted March 28, 2018 On Getaway twice and have eaten at all the specialties. I would suggest Cagney's and LeBistro for an anniversary dinner. Let them know and they will find you a cozy table :-) Moderno is delicious but definitely not romantic and you will end up with the meat sweats! Not sexy for an anniversary dinner

beachykeen720 Posted March 29, 2018 Author #21 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Thanks for the responses, everyone! I set a reservation at Cagney’s for the night. I also appreciate the recommendations for Le Bistro and La Cucina. Both of those are on our list as well but my husband will appreciate the food more at Cagney’s for our special day. Is Cagney’s or Moderno a better choice for an anniversary dinner as far as a nice, romantic ambiance? We will eat at both on our trip but I’m wondering if one has a better anniversary ‘mood’ than the other. If it were me, I would actually do Le Bistro because it is a little more romantic, usually with fantastic service. If you really are set on one of the two you mentioned Cagney's would be my choice. I like them both, but Modernos is just not a place to celebrate a special occasion in my opinion. to those who say the meat at Modernos isn't good or the salad bar is over rated, well we all know food is subjective, but I totally disagree. We have eaten at Modernos on several NCL cruises and have never been disappointed. Sometimes they even ask how we want it cooked, or if not we tell them. I do not think the salad bar is quite as good as it was about 10 years ago, when they first started, but it is still darn good.
jdvmd Posted March 29, 2018 #23 Share Posted March 29, 2018 I would vote LeBistro myself.
poohdreaming Posted March 30, 2018 #24 Share Posted March 30, 2018 Go with Cagney’s based on your question. However, in my opinion Le Bistro would be more of a special day / more romantic. It also depends on what time you are going for dinner. If its late at night like 8-10 pm, Le Bistro might be more quiet in the dark with candles. At Cagney's, the room would be more brighter. Anyway, these restaurants are good and their desserts especially at Le Bistro if you are a fan of creme brulee.
trivia addict Posted March 30, 2018 #25 Share Posted March 30, 2018 While on the Getaway in January, we enjoyed the food at Le Bistro over that of Cagney’s.
