Rare 01Sweetpea Posted March 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Hubby & I will be celebrating our anniversary on the 4/22 Liberty OTS cruise. I’m trying to decide which specialty restaurant to choose for dinner. We’ve eaten at Chops on every prior RCI cruise, but have never tried Giovanni’s. We won’t do Chef’s Table since we don’t drink wine. Which would you choose? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
zdad59 Posted March 29, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2018 For us, Giovanni's over Chops 110% of the time. Never had a bad meal there. Chops has decent ambiance but I can get a better steak at Outback.
Clarea Posted March 29, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Giovanni's. Wider variety of choices.
OCruisers Posted March 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2018 We love Giovanni's!
lbjen Posted March 29, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2018 We prefer Giovanni’s too, for a great steak there and there are more options for sides. Like the mushroom risotto!
Eslader Posted March 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Another Giovanni's vote here. I like Chops a lot, but Giovanni's is even better.
George C Posted March 29, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2018 I really did not like Giovanni's on last Liberty cruise preferred chops
kalliekae Posted March 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2018 We would choose Chops over Italian any day, but that's us. What do your taste buds want?

Ladysilver Posted March 29, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Since you haven't yet tried Giovanni's, I'd go there. :)
rdsxgrl28 Posted March 29, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 29, 2018 honestly it really depends. My guy is a steak guy so Chops for him. Me I love Italien since I grew up on it so Giovannis.
katiel53 Posted March 29, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 29, 2018 I love Italian food just dislike Giovanni's I totally agree. The pasta with bolognese sauce is so al dente that it seems like it needs another 3-4 minutes to cook. It's almost hard. The pasta Carbonara has an egg on top instead of mixed in the sauce. That might be the way to serve it, but that's not how I eat it. The filet was ok, not anywhere near as good as Chops, so I would choose Chops any day instead of Giovanni's. I am sailing on Allure this summer and we have the 5 night package. I tried so hard to talk my family into going to Giovanni's again and they said why go there when they didn't really like it? They are huge Italian food fans.

Gordo Posted March 31, 2018 #15 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Our vote goes to Chops. We are big fans of their filets, and all of the wonderful sides.
George C Posted March 31, 2018 #16 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Another minor point was no one in kitchen or wait staff was Italian or even European , I thought staff in general was just bad , in past this was one of my favorite places to eat , I grew up in a New York Italian family and know what good itialin food taste like . Rare BirdTravels Posted March 31, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 31, 2018 We would select Chops.
Tee & Chilli Posted March 31, 2018 #18 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Do both if the bogo is available on your sailing.
Valerie H Posted March 31, 2018 #19 Share Posted March 31, 2018 We tried both on our last cruise, and preferred Giovanni's ambiance for a romantic evening. Chops was nice, too, but my vote is Giovanni's. Sent from my Pixel XL using Forums mobile app
Rare 01Sweetpea Posted April 1, 2018 Author #20 Share Posted April 1, 2018 We sail in 3 weeks, any change a BOGO sale will happen before then?
Clarea Posted April 1, 2018 #21 Share Posted April 1, 2018 We sail in 3 weeks, any change a BOGO sale will happen before then? Unpredictable, keep checking your Cruise Planner.
tampadee Posted April 1, 2018 #22 Share Posted April 1, 2018 We like both. But...just returned from Oasis and did the BOGO. Really shocked that the price no longer includes tip! Instead of $45, it is now $53. Thank goodness it was BOGO. Seeing more and more ways RCI is cutting back.
Rala Posted April 2, 2018 #23 Share Posted April 2, 2018 We enjoy both, but Giovanni's edges out Chops for us. Happy Anniversary! :D
csnarpy Posted April 2, 2018 #24 Share Posted April 2, 2018 We sail in 3 weeks, any change a BOGO sale will happen before then? Doubt it, keep checking but I’d just grab the “First Night Done Right” deal.
Big_G Posted April 2, 2018 #25 Share Posted April 2, 2018 My wife gets the filet in Giovanni's and according to her it's beats any filet she's had in Chops.
