winddawn Posted March 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2018 It appears changes to the VIFP program may be imminent. I noticed this morning when looking online at my list of cruises, and I click on the link in my history to print off my list of cruises, I now see cruise day points, adjusted points, and VIFP points. I also see a new column in the far right of my list of cruises titled account balance, and oddly enough my account balance is 4 days less than my accrued VIFP points. I'm hoping that doesn't mean I will be losing VIFP points during the switchover, but it sure looks that way from what I'm seeing. Anyone else seeing these new VIFP changes? sanmarcosman Posted March 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2018 (edited) Also under " Review My Cruise History" a link has been added next to each cruise on the list that says " Adjust This Cruise." Is this new? Yes, when I go to print it out it reveals all the extra information you stated. Edited March 30, 2018 by sanmarcosman update
sandyzag Posted March 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2018 Sure do, after, like you said, you click on print your cruise history. Interesting and thanks for the heads up, because I did print it.
wemjam Posted March 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2018 Ya, there is a footnote at the bottom of the page when you go to print it that says: *Cruises before 1999 do not have additional details. **You may see a cruise listed with zero VIFP Points, which indicates a cruise that's ineligible for VIFP Points, such as a complimentary cruise. Sorry we can't give you any VIFP Points, but we hope you had a great time. So, some people may be losing some VIFP points.
mikel24m Posted March 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2018 Wonder if almost free cruises will count.Ours was $200 with $100 OBC from the casino. I Guess in 14 days we'll see. It says can take up to 14 days after to show up in your account Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Forums mobile app

It says can take up to 14 days after to show up in your account Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Forums mobile app I had the same offer as you, which I used on my recent Conquest cruise. It definitely counted for me - but I upgraded to a balcony instead of an inside, so paid a bit more than $200. That may make a difference in it being considered a "free" cruise. Mine too. I don't know where the math changes to reflect the new lower total, other than it may be the really-old cruises that are lumped together prior to 2005??? summersigh Posted March 30, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 30, 2018 We paid for all of our 4 previous CCL cruises and have all the points for each in all columns. I assume "free cruises" will no longer count based on what's said in previous posts.

CeleBrat My cruise from 1999 just says '1 cruise' and 4 days. Funny, but bafore they changed to VIFP that cruise was listed as Fantasy, 4 days, Freeport/Nassau, and even gave cabin number. Organized Chaos Posted March 30, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 30, 2018 Found this in their VIFP Terms & Conditions. Not sure if it's new or not: " CCL may, from time to time at its sole discretion, offer opportunities to earn extra VIFP Points through participation in different promotions, contests or sweepstakes." This falls in line with an article I read about a year ago. Carnival's chief marketing officer and their VP of partnership and loyalty said they were looking to tweak the VIFP program. Part of the changes would concentrate more on bringing in more partnerships with third-party companies. Come up with ways to allow customers to benefit on Carnival through their partners. A way to keep their customers minds on Carnival and loyal, even if those people don't cruise for a year or two.

A way to keep their customers minds on Carnival and loyal, even if those people don't cruise for a year or two. That’s been in the program since it was started, but they never did anything with it. This is a thread from 2012 that has that in the VIFP info Copied this off Carnivals Q&A about the new program. The part in red talks about your case. Hope this helps. Members in good standing will receive one (1) VIFP Point for each day cruised (each a “Day”) on a cruise operated by CCL (a “Cruise”), based on published length of sailing. VIFP Points are rewarded for Days actually consumed by a Member, not for reserved Days in the future. VIFP Points may not be awarded for certain charters and/or non-revenue fares, as reasonably determined by CCL. Except as otherwise stated herein, VIFP Points are credited to a Member’s Account within fourteen (14) days of completing a Cruise. Members can check their VIFP Point balance by logging into their Account at the Site. CCL may, from time to time, offer opportunities to earn extra VIFP Points through participation in different promotions, contests or sweepstakes. Members will be deemed a certain “Level” in the Club depending on the number of the VIFP Points earned. The following number of VIFP Points must be earned to be awarded the corresponding Level. A Member will be a deemed a “Blue” Level Member once the Member registers for the Club and such Member will be deemed a “Red” Level Member once the Member embarks on a second Cruise. All earnings after that are based on the number of Days a Member accrues on eligible Cruises. LEVEL POINTS BLUE First Cruise RED Second Cruise – 24 VIFP Points GOLD 25 – 74 VIFP Points PLATINUM 75 – 199 VIFP Points DIAMOND 200 and more VIFP Points Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event a Member books a Cruise in which such Member will attain the necessary VIFP Points to reach a new Level during or by the end of such Cruise (a “Crossover Cruise”), CCL may, in its sole discretion, offer such Member the Benefits offered to Members of the higher Level during the Crossover Cruise. Rare shof515 Posted March 30, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 30, 2018 I noticed on the Princess cruise line they have a very similar layout with different amount of points. I guess the same thing is being applied to Carnival.

Tiger0613 Posted March 30, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 30, 2018 We have had several "free" cruises and always upgrade to a balcony. All our cruises count toward VFIP points. Did you pay for those upgrades? If you did, that is why those days counted. Every day at sea is included in cruise day points. Completely free cruises count toward total cruise days, but they have never counted toward VIFP points. That is one of the ways adjusted points is used. They subtract the free days from the total cruise days to get total VIFP points.
carnivaladdix120 Posted March 30, 2018 #18 Share Posted March 30, 2018 Our last 5 cruises have been bounce back offers from the casino and we were given points for all of them so I hope that doesn't change! We never upgrade the room but they aren't necessarily free, but definitely heavily discounted as they all had on board credit so we technically only paid port fees and taxes. WPTNGirl Posted March 30, 2018 #21 Share Posted March 30, 2018 I have 90 VIFP points but only 71 points in my Account Balance. The account balance started with my 2011 cruise so my 19 cruise days from 1992 - 1996 are only counted in my VIFP points. Any idea the use of Account Balance? Also, I am trying to understand the dates in the first column. In some cases it is a few days after the cruise but for another cruise it is almost 2 years later. The first column is the date the cruise was posted to your account. All but my first cruise were posted the day after I got back. My first cruise shows a posting date of 6/5/2012 even though the sail date was 6/15/2002. The VIFP program started on 6/5/2012.
