cruzn single Posted March 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2018 For those of you who have recently done this cruise, one quick question. For the late night in Curaçao, does HAL still do fireworks. Been awhile since I have cruised there but it is still a special memory of that port. Also, any other special highlights?
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Haven't had any fireworks in Curacao in many years. Once the hotel was built, they were gone.

PoolSlider Posted March 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2018 On our Nov cruise, our late departure was Aruba not Curacao.
Homosassa Posted March 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Just a heads up about Curacao docking: we were there last week. For the first time in cruising to Willemstad since 1976, we woke up to find the ship tied up beyond the Queen Juliana Bridge (the automobile bridge over the canal). The area was not a part of the normal passenger port and while the ship's excursions were picked up and returned to that area, the rest of us had to walk down to the normal passenger port gates to exit, find cabs or meet privately arranged excursions. Mein Schiff was tied up at the area where we have docked before when tied up in the canal.
Kirsten T Posted March 31, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2018 (edited) Same experience as other posters on our January cruise; late night was Aruba and we also docked in the channel beyond the pontoon bridge. We quite enjoyed watching the bridge swing open and Zuiderdam back all the way out of the channel into the ocean. And no fireworks which must have been very cool in the past! sail7seas Posted March 31, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2018 (edited) No fireworks! That's too bad, they were wonderful. It was always a very fun evening when HAL ships sailed out of Curacao We all ga thered at aft pool, had great food, busy bar, watched t he locals line the shore and flash their car headlights and then the fireworks music and lots of fun A wonderful party While the view from the ship to shore was wonderful, itmust have ben beautiful for the locals to sit in the dark and look at the beau tiful ship all lit up and so many of us partying and we would sail away :) I cannot verify it is true but I was told, Curacao and HAL used to share the cost At some point, hAL stopped wanting to pay and it ended Edited March 31, 2018 by sail7seas
cruzn single Posted March 31, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Sorry to read this. On the April 11 departure, we have late departure from both Aruba and Curacao. Guess you can tell it has been quite a while for me for this part of the Caribbean cruise.
