liberty64 Posted April 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2018 Am trying to book on Allure of the Seasfor September, but I can't find a direct flight from the UK apart from London. I'm very surprised that there are no direct flights from Manchester or any other northern airport for that matter. Am I doing something wrong?? fishywood Posted April 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2018 Only thing you are doing wrong in this case is not flying in from Central or South America where there are innumerable non-stop flights to MIA from every gateway in that region. As the airports international capacity continues to shift in their favor the number of direct flights from elsewhere continues to dwindle--especially to both the UK and the Continent. Best flights I see with a not too long layover (but still long enough to make the connection) are MAN-PHI-MIA (on AA metals but can be ticketed as BA) or MAN-JFK-MIA on VS. Otherwise your best alternative will be starting at LHR via your transport mode of choice.
Rare VMax1700 Posted April 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2018 Another alternative would be to fly to Dublin then direct to Miami (MAN - DUB - MIA) on an A330. EI flies to Miami on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The big big positive of this is that you would pre-clear US customs and immigration in Dublin and then when you arrive in Miami it is collect bags and straight out of the airport. Immigration in Miami is a bit of a nightmare (in my opinion!).
liberty64 Posted April 14, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted April 14, 2018 Thanks for your quick responses, I'm just surprised that there are no direct flights from Manchester at all, have looked at Dublin as this seemed a good option but bumps the price of the holiday up. Probably too much hassle for just a 7 night cruise!! Thanks again
CruiserBruce Posted April 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2018 If there was demand, and therefore money to be made, for flying from Manchester to MIA, someone would fly the route. I am guessing BA and AA, with their alliance, have figured it not profitable.

liberty64 Posted April 15, 2018 Author #11 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Are you flying BA to London? Sent from my F3311 using Forums mobile app
boogybaby Posted April 15, 2018 #12 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Hi we can fly ba to Heathrow but I don’t fancy the underground with 3 cases to Gatwick, or cross country to reading then another train to Gatwick or 1 train to Edinburgh and the airport bus to the airport. Edinburgh seems to be the cheapest and easiest option even with two hotels, Janice
liberty64 Posted April 15, 2018 Author #13 Share Posted April 15, 2018 So are you flying directly from Edinburgh to Miami with Norwegian? Sent from my F3311 using Forums mobile app
UK Cruiser2 Posted April 15, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 15, 2018 We are flying Newcastle to Heathrow then Miami. So we don't have to travel between Gatwick-Heathrow on route

UK Cruiser2 Posted April 15, 2018 #17 Share Posted April 15, 2018 It's B.A. Although one of the Transatlantic legs is with American Airlines all reservations were made through B.A.(American Airlines are a sister company of B.A.)
boogybaby Posted April 15, 2018 #18 Share Posted April 15, 2018 It’s not booked but I think it’s the cheapest option,Janice It’s to fort Lauderdale but it’s easy to transfer to Miami, we need a one way flight so Norwegian are the cheapest I believe, janice

boogybaby Posted April 16, 2018 #21 Share Posted April 16, 2018 Hi, sorry my mistake I have looked at so many routes for one way flights, we will need to take the train to Edinburgh then fly ba to Gatwick then Norwegian to Fort Lauderdale it’s bonkers really but it seems to be the cheapest, janice
nikinakinoo Posted April 17, 2018 #22 Share Posted April 17, 2018 Hi If you do a price comparison on BA/AA for Man-Mia via Heathrow it’s usually cheaper then doing LHR-Mia direct even though it will be the same international flight Sent from my iPhone using Forums
boogybaby Posted April 17, 2018 #23 Share Posted April 17, 2018 Hi no I didn’t but one way flights were ridiculous on ba, we have now booked! We are flying Newcastle to Heathrow with ba,then National express to Gatwick and flying the following day to fort Lauderdale with Norwegian I’m just pleased to have booked and I can now relax for 11 months. If only we could fly to Gatwick from Newcastle!, janice
UK Cruiser2 Posted April 17, 2018 #24 Share Posted April 17, 2018 boogybaby,as I mentioned earlier we are flying Newcastle-Heathrow-Miami. Was this too expensive considering you are staying overnight in a hotel before flying from Gatwick ?
boogybaby Posted April 17, 2018 #25 Share Posted April 17, 2018 Hi, yes ba wanted £3282 economy with 1 case each, we paid £780 for both flights 3 cases bus transfer and the hotel B&B at Gatwick so Norwegian won, Janice
