The final voyage of the Norwegian Escape from Miami until her return in November 2019

Miami, Florida

Nassau, Bahamas

At Sea

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

George Town, Grand Cayman

At Sea

Miami, Florida

Our vacation is off to a first class start.

On Wednesday, our “poor” bid from a mini to H5 Haven room was accepted and the luggage tags for Deck 15 went in the trash, and tags for Deck 18 came rolling off the printer (along with new eDocs). Yeah!

On Friday, we arrived in Miami (day before cruise) and checked into the Conrad Miami for our “view of the dumpster” cheapy room. After chatting-up the desk agent, he gave us a complimentary upgrade to a 2BR residence with a beautiful view of Biscayne Bay.

Saturday. Cruise day. Arrived at the port at 10:15. Haven check-in was fast and painless. We were escorted to a private waiting area between Terminal B and C.

11:00 Haven boarding starts

11:00 Ambassador, Platinum Plus and Platinum boarding starts.

And our cruise begins

This says more more about the state of the cruise industry than ever before!! Haven is supposed to be booked first according to NCL. Thank you for proving them wrong.

Oh and do not forget all the hype with the Escape - A ship for Miami -

Please tell us what your "chatting up" the desk clerk at the Conrad consisted of. We are Diamond and have never gotten an upgrade like that!

Conrads are typically very generous with upgrades. We have actually got upgrades to resident suites (the two BR being the biggest) at the Conrad Miami several times. We have also got a suite upgrade at the Conrad London when sailing out of Southampton.

Not exactly sure what point you are you trying to make.

NCL always tries to sail their ships with the suites full. They have have always offered upgrades via the upsell desk.

With the cruise line launching a new megaship and adding 2300 cabins a year, the manual upsell desk did not scale well and the replaced it with a semi-automated system.

On some cruises, it has been cheaper to pay retail for a suite than playing games with the upgrade system. And you get all of the suites promos.

Hey BirdTravels,

My daughter Megan (Indianagirl01) and her boyfriend are cruising with you this week. Maybe you will meet them Monday at the M & G. They upgraded to a balcony from an inside. Really glad you are doing this so I can follow along :D

Can you tell us if Branko is still the Haven bartender? And is so, when is he going on vacation? He was our bartender on our first Escape cruise and we are hoping he is there when we come aboard in 2 weeks out of NY. He’s the best! Thank you!

So excited to be on the Escape next week for the first Bermuda trip this season. Your photos and updates are getting us exited!

The Escape is replacing the Breakaway on the NY to Bermuda run. Here’s what the Breakaway did last season https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2504449

Such a great live report and awesome pictures, as was your Breakaway Bermuda report from last year. So very much appreciated as we sail on the Escape to Bermuda in 2 weeks(will be first time for us for both ship and port).
