What, if any, experiences people have had with the Ocean Medallion on the Royal Princess. We're on it this August and would like to know of how it's been accepted by PAX.

Thanks in advance for your feedback

Interesting... I thought it was on the Royal but equally interesting are the 'thumbs down' reviews. Have they been posted somewhere?

Huge thread here on CC. Multiple threads where people mostly say it's not ready and doesn't work properly.

It was originally scheduled on the Royal in January 2018 but received this in a December email for my May 2019 cruise on the Royal.

The creation of Ocean Medallion Vacations is an all-encompassing project that is currently being activated onboard another Princess ship. We had hoped to have it launched in time for your cruise aboard Royal Princess. However, we have identified refinements and enhancements that require more time for us to fully realize our aspirations to elevate the guest experience by way of this new technology. We hope you’ll experience Ocean Medallion on a future cruise with Princess. We apologize for any disappointment this news may cause for you”.

There are several threads on the ***** problems & they’re hopeful to have it operational on one ship...Regal...by the end of the year but no one knows when.

Princess has certainly botched this install. They should have ran a test on a limited basis on one ship before even advertising it. I am wondering if the original design was defective making it difficult to install and turn it on. Hopefully they have learned from what went wrong and will be able to successfully implement it on other ships. Meantime we all wait.

One of the reasons we have booked one on the Royal was ***** but they realize it needs a lot of work. Wondering if the same people working on it now are the ones who started the project?

The original testing was done in a concrete building. The medallions themselves are a glorified RFID chip

(which simply responds "Chip #123456790" when pinged with a radio pulse). The problem, shipboard, is that

it is apparently much more difficult to determine which sensor the medallion (and you) are closest to when

several pick up the response.
