Embarkation Day

Long time cruiser here but last time on X was 2016, and we had the pleasure of boarding and having lunch at Bistro on Five, which is no longer available. What do cruisers do, are you guys all just heading up to the buffet until rooms are ready? Always enjoyed the easygoing pace of sitting with a place to put hand luggage, etc and being served.

MDR is only open for lunch for Concierge guests on embarkation day. Otherwise, it's the buffet, Sushi on 5, or the Mast Grill. Maybe the Aqua Spa cafe as well?

Thanks, speaking about Sushi on 5, what’s the charge for lunch, would you know?

Sushi on 5 is a la carte pricing so it depends on what you order. Someone post a menu once, but not sure how current it is / was or even if I could find it.

A la carte pricing; same menu and prices for lunch and dinner. Sometimes you can negotiate a fixed price for all-you-can-eat or negotiate a percentage off the price.

You did not identify your cabin category.

Our last three cruises on Celebrity have been in suites and lunch in Luminae was very good, as was the service. Passengers either brought their hand luggage with them or left it with the concierge in Michael's Club.

We used to go sit at the Aqua Spa Cafe and get some fresh grilled salmon. Nice, quiet and good food, Alas, I hear it is no more (the grilled salmon that is). So not sure what we will do this time. Might still check it out and see what is available. We usually take the 11 AM shuttle from the hotel so we are ready to board around 11:30.

What we do is wait until close to 1:00 pm to board. Don't like getting there early, dragging our carry-ons all over the place, and fighting the crowds for lunch (would reconsider if in Concierge or in a suite). Early into our cruising years we figured this out to be a much, much more relaxing way to start a cruise. We always arrive in port at least a day early, so consider our morning relaxing at the hotel part of our vacation as well.
