Upsell Offer for Carnival Paradise

I received an upsell offer from an Interior Cabin on Deck 7 (middle) to a Balcony Cabin on Deck 5 (middle) for $444. This is a 5 day cruise in October on the Carnival Paradise going to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Do you think the offer is worth taking? It will save approximately $150 if we were looking to book the balcony through the Carnival website without the offer. This will be a honeymoon cruise for me and my soon to be DH.

We have stayed in an interior and ocean view before and have a balcony booked for our 7 day cruise in January 2019 on the Carnival Breeze from Port Canaveral to the Eastern Caribbean.

Help me make a decision :)

thats almot 100.00 a day for a 5 day cruise-- 2 of which will be in port and 2 days getting on and off.

For me no not worth it sorry

That is a great point, I had not thought about it from the perspective of dollar amount per day or the amount of time we would be off the ship. We normally do not spend a lot of time in the room but thought we may reconsider if we had a balcony to sit on... thank you for the feedback.

Well it's your honeymoon, so I say go for it. :)

I've heard balconies are great.

Definitely better than an interior.

We booked an interior on our last cruise in January 2018 with my DD who is 9 years old, it was less comfortable than our previous ocean view. It is such a tough decision one that I hate to turn down because I worry I wont get another offer on future cruises haha.

I was always an inside cabin guest. I received an upgrade for a balcony 2 cruises ago for our 30th anniversary for $200.00 on 7 day cruise. I grabbed it in a heart beat and no matter how much you think you will not be in your room, the sail away from home port and your other ports with your balcony to yourself, not fighting to get a prime spot on the upper decks, the mornings and evenings sitting on your balcony is worth the extra IMHO. Oh and may I add more room than an inside cabin.

Take the upsell - you will enjoy the balcony cabin much, much more than an inside. We love the Paradise and have sailed on her 4 times since Nov., just once since dry dock and the new things are great. Enjoy your honeymoon!!

IMO, spend your $444 on something better. I think it’s way too much for 5 nights...ask if they have a better offer available. We recently upgraded on the Sunshine from an ocean view to a balcony for $40...and that was for an 8 night cruise.

On another note, we’ve sailed the Paradise 5 times...it’s a great ship! Enjoy!

Thank you so much; we are really looking forward to the cruise. I am still undecided but I am going to call my PVP and get some further input :)

I agree it is a bit pricey; I have received better upsell offers in the past.

I am booked on the Paradise for September 29 and had the same offer (porthole inside to balcony). I thought it was way too much money and turned it down. But, I live in Florida and am recently retired, so each cruise doesn’t have to be perfect, there is always another one coming up and I prefer more cruises over nicer cabins on fewer cruises. If it were my honeymoon or I cruised only once a year, I might have considered the offer. I suspect I would still prefer to apply that money towards an additional cruise.

Hi

I agree, this upgrade is too expensive. That would be enough to pay for a lot of other entertainment, but it's your cruise, your honeymoon, so it will be up to you to decide.

have a great cruise

We have decided not to take the upsell offer. After the input for you all and further discussing the cost, we decided it was best to spend that money on something else. Thank you all for your input!

We've received six of these upgrade email offers in the last three weeks. Five of them were crazy; almost rack rates. We accepted one, porthole to oceanview, for $50.00

Where the upgrade offers all for the same cruise?

You guys actually made a great decision in my opinion. When we sail the Paradise we always get rooms on the Empress (Deck 7) mid ship. It is so easy to get to all of the entertainment. The center bar is right down the hall and the casino floor is only two floors up. It is a perfect location. Enjoy your time!

ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! IT IS YOUR HONEYMOON! Open those doors and lay in bed and listen to the ocean sounds and breezes. We always sailed in a oceanview or porthole but once we went to a balcony, I do not know why we waited. For only $100 a day you will be glad that you did. The only disclaimer is to look at the size of the cabin first. The Paradise had to take some room for their new balconies so if you need the space in the room, you may want to consider that. Glad that you have a balcony on your 7 day though. Have a great time and Congratulations!

I am the opposite. Just did a balcony on an Alaska cruise and felt it was not worth the money. The only time I went out there was when I was waiting on the wife to get dressed.

I don't spend much time in the room and would much rather be out on deck somewhere. Sometimes your balcony may not be on the side that has anything too look at.

I wouldn’t have taken that upsell either. I also received an upsell offer to go from an interior midship Empress deck (on Elation, Paradise’s sister ship) to an aft balcony on the main deck for $334. This is also for a 5 day cruise. I thought it was way too much, especially since it was for a lower deck aft. I declined the offer.
