SouthLyonCruiser Posted June 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2018 As many Norwegian cruises as I have been on, I have never tried the noodle bar which is complimentary and would like to know what to expect as far as selection goes. Anyone have any comments or suggestions?
teachatthebeach Posted June 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2018 We tried it last week on the Epic. We enjoyed the shrimp dumplings, the chicken noodle bowl and the pork noodle bowl, and both desserts offered. The veggie fried rice was very dry and didn’t have much flavor. I would definitely go again. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
poohdreaming Posted June 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Not all cruises have the Noodle Bar or an Asian restaurant, especially the NCL Escape. If the cruise you goes on does have one, then make sure to visit at least 1 time to see if you like the food or not. If you do not like the food, you can always order something else or if you want more of a certain food, it is fine to do so. The same with desserts - you can have 1 or as many as you want. You are on the cruise to enjoy yourself. On the Gem, they have the Orchid restaurant, I liked their spring rolls.
PelicanBill Posted June 21, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Some love the food, some are critical. I enjoy it. It's not buffet food and it's included. Only problem is limited seating and too close to smoky casino.
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 21, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2018 We enjoy the Asian restaurant on the Jewel class ships. Have not been to the restaurant on the BA or GA or Epic.
Jldevlin Posted June 21, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2018 We loved it on all the ships we have been on ...The only thing is on the Getaway you sit facing other people at a bar type of table ....It is not high end Asian but we are not high end people so its good enough for us
Rare mking8288 Posted June 21, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2018 This "was" the complimentary Shanghai Noodles menu (posted in 2017) on the BA, open for dinner only - no reservations taken & there is often a line and a wait for it ... you are given a "pager" to alert you when it's your turn, feel free to hangout by the casino bar or try your luck with the "bandits" with your "donations" - identical on the GA per one of our niece ... not sure if anything has changed since. Noodles soup/broth is okay, IMO - the 3 starters are okay. They are prepared in a small, "open" kitchen in front of you, served hot off the wok / frying pan ... Portion sizes used to be slightly bigger in the old days when there was an upcharge. Look at it as comfort food, O'Sheehan style - with a small Asian selection, casual & light dining. casofilia Posted June 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2018 We enjoy a visit to Chin Chin when they are open at lunch time. Portions are not large so you can share lots of dishes like we do.

Yes, that is the same menu as last week on the Epic. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Zippeedee Posted June 21, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 21, 2018 It is sometimes easiest to get a seat on a port day before the casino opens. I enjoyed the meal except for a seriously oversteamed shrimp dumpling. The Char Siu rice noodles and the pork pot stickers were quite good. I walked over to O'Sheehans for dessert later.
