SilkySal Posted June 25, 2018 #26 Share Posted June 25, 2018 This brought tears to my eyes. You're right. Thank you. I'll go. Glad to hear that you're taking his advice "to heart"! I am a rather "plump" ole lady and stress way too much at times, so I tend to get that nasty heartburn from time to time, which can hurt really bad. When my weight was at its highest and my heartburn occurred frequently, I did get thoroughly checked out and was told that my ticker was just fine, which will hopefully be your case as well. When I lost 40#, my heartburn rarely happened, so I know that most of it is attributed to my weight plus my good ole anxiety!:( Loving your review, so thanks for sharing, and looking forward to hearing more!! CHEERS!!

Ocean Boy Posted June 25, 2018 #30 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Thank you for your concern. My husband has had a heart attack and I have experienced before what I thought *might* be the beginning of one. Turns out they were just PVCs, for anyone who knows what that means. (On New Year's EVE! Why couldn't these things happen to me on Tuesday morning at work? Why must it be New Year's Eve, or the day I'm leaving for vacation?). I really do think this was anxiety, for a few reasons that I won't bore you all with. I'm just thankful that the episode didn't turn out serious enough to end up in the hospital, thus canceling our trip. I am ok today, after a nice long sleep in my own bed! Premature ventricular contractions.
Biker19 Posted June 25, 2018 #31 Share Posted June 25, 2018 After a few hours at the pool, once the sun went down a little, I encouraged my son to try the flowrider. My thinking was that he could try it out HERE, and then when we got on the ship he could enjoy those even more since he'd not be a total beginner. The cost is $30 for 30 minutes on weekdays, and $45 for 30 minutes on weekends. They have some specials, like $30/hr on Thursdays for locals. Biker, who was there last week to practice between cruises.
Ocean Boy Posted June 25, 2018 #32 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Think of the satisfaction you'll have when you get back from the doctor and are able to post "I told you so" here. That should be enough to motivate you! :D If everything turns out fine saying "I told you so" should probably be the last thing on anyone's mind. Gratefulness seems somewhat appropriate. LuCruise Posted June 25, 2018 #34 Share Posted June 25, 2018 How special to go on a trip just you and your son. But am sorry that in your intro you are indicating "lots of lows". Also...what a scare on the plane...and hope it is "just stress" although that in itself can have a bad effect on your health. Hope you are ok...and still could get some "highs/good things" out of your trip. We loved Allure...but sounds like you had some circumstances. Waiting to hear more... sharse Posted June 25, 2018 Author #35 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Thank you for your concerns everyone! Very much appreciated. Have sought medical attention and am happy to report it appears to just be anxiety as everything else looks good! I learned today that typically it is the right arm that feels numb when having a heart attack, and it can be a sign of a stroke when the left arm feels numb or tingly. I can't recall if I mentioned that on the plane it was my left arm feeling tingly. I get occasional nerve pinches in my left shoulder when I neglect my workouts, which I must admit I've been doing. So I just need to get my butt to the gym more regularly to work on that, and now that I'm home I need to chill out and the anxiety should take care of itself. But the ticker seems good to go, which means I can finish my review! (Sorry to those that were confused by my wording above about asking Margaritaville if we could come back the following week. I'll try to make sure I'm more clear from here on out!). And once again, thank you all (a) for your concerns, and (b) for following my review! I hope to keep you entertained and answer any questions you may have!
poncho1973 Posted June 25, 2018 #36 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Lots of people jumping on OP for the heart attack thing. I think she's got the point. Although, I'm not a worrier in any sense, but I seriously was thinking "When does one mentally just decide they aren't having a heart attack and don't need assistance if they think they are having a heart attack?" But I'm going to wait for more trip report info.
sharse Posted June 25, 2018 Author #37 Share Posted June 25, 2018 I seriously was thinking "When does one mentally just decide they aren't having a heart attack and don't need assistance if they think they are having a heart attack?" The main thing I was NOT having, was chest pain. I could control my breathing, I could speak, I could stand. I had an upset tummy, honestly did think I might throw up but thankfully (for all passengers on that Southwest flight) I did not. I knew anxiety was kicking in for a few reasons that I won't bore you all with. I stood up front for about 20 minutes talking with the flight attendants and drinking ginger ale. I knew if it was an actual heart attack I would not be able to do that. Sorry I freaked everyone out in my first post. I tend to be sarcastic and sometimes over dramatic, so I will try to tone that down from here on out.

sharse Posted June 25, 2018 Author #43 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Embarkation: Thanks to a few threads here on CC I knew to download the Royal app ahead of time. I wasn't quite sure what to do with it, but being the obedient girl I am (proof: I went to the doctor when you all told me to!) I downloaded it. Via steps I cannot recall, and for reasons I never really understood, I somehow managed to do the check in thing and get the boarding pass on my phone. That was a good move. Do it everyone. Do it! Because I got lost returning my rental car we were a bit late checking in. Had an 11:00am appointment... arrived probably 11:15. Could have been worse. Side note: the people in front of me had a check in appointment for 2:30, but were allowed to check in and board right in front of me, so (a) why do they bother with the appointments? and (b) note to you future cruisers: show up to the port whenever you feel like it. Those appointment times are meaningless. The lines were moving at a nice pace, and I saw some people showing their phone to one of the port employees, and *BOOM* I remembered that app and the online boarding pass. Whipped mine out, was escorted to the "mobile" line which was considerably shorter than the "this is how we've done it since 1996" line, so my advice to you all is to figure out how to do it on your phone and look for the special line when you get to port. It will be the short one. Once it was our turn to chat with the kind fellow who would let us on board, I was amused to learn that he took our photos anyway. Not sure why Royal asks you to upload your photo when checking in online ahead of time if they're going to take your picture anyway, but they did for us. Not that it took more than 2 seconds or was a big deal. Another thing that has changed since my last cruise with Royal is that you no longer have to fill out the medical form. They simply ask you if you've been sick within the past week, and you conveniently forget that you weren't feeling all that great on the plane two days ago, tell them all is well, and off you go. From this point we walked right on the ship. Very smooth embarkation, even with a very crowded terminal. It was well organized, and if you're smarter than I am and know that the mobile app will get you in a faster line, you'll walk right in like you own the place and be on board in a jiffy!
