We received notice that our boarding time is 2:30. Will they check us in if we come earlier than this. We do have Priority Boarding Passes. Will we be able to go to our cabin if we board earlier?

That’s a recommendation which has never been enforced on my cruises.

We have priority boarding & arrive at about 10:30 and with elite boarding on the ship by noon. Our cabin has been available on all cruises except for a couple of times on the Royal/Regal. They stated they’d be ready by 1:00 but either had them ready at boarding or could place our carryon bags in our cabin’s closet before going to lunch in the MDR.

Show up any time you wish and go to your cabin after boarding. They will let you drop your stuff even if the cabin isn't ready, but in our case it was always ready...even when the check in people said it wouldn't be ready till 1:00.

The only time it will be an issue is when they have to do a deep cleaning of the ship when there is a Noro outbreak on board. It has also been reported on CC that on the Royal and Regal out of Florida that cabins have not been ready till 1. Have not seen anything reported lately about this so it now might not be a problem.

Had priority boarding on our 2016 Caribbean Princess cruise since we were in a suite. Arrived at the Port Everglades terminal at 10 am. Stood in line with the other 300+ priority guests until the doors opened around 11 am. Check in was quick. We then were seated in the main waiting area for over 30 minutes. Got on board around 11:45 am. Stateroom was ready.

Next year on the Crown Princess, we were in a Mini Suite, no priority boarding. After our flight was cancelled out of Atlanta, we drove all night to Fort Lauderdale, bought some clothes since our luggage was still in ATL and got to the port by 2 pm. We walked into the terminal and the only people their were the Princess employees.

We are traveling on the CB in August, will arrive no earlier than 2 pm.

Staggered boarding times are for passengers who start drinking before boarding. This is not to be confused with the straggler boarding times which begin after 3:00pm.

Dropping off your stuff is not always allowed. I was on a Caribbean Cruise earlier this year on the Caribbean Princess & we weren’t allowed to go to our stateroom until around 2 pm. The door was closed to the staterooms & their was a staff person there who politely said no, even if to just drop off our carryons.

Just as a point of interest, the people at the terminal are not Princess employees. The only places where you were ever processed on and off the Princess ships by Princess employees were in Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. and the last year that was the case was in 2014. After that, those ports were changed to having a third party company started handling those 2 ports. The same was true for Holland-America.
