Alaska Live, July 17th - 27th. Just the tip of the iceberg.

Recommended Posts

Congrats on your anniversary.

As for the Photo credit it happens. ;)

Thank you.

It is interesting see the difference two months makes when going to Alaska. We were only able to get within a 1/2 mile of Hubbard because of ice and that was significantly closer than the cruise the week before.

We went on a whale watching tour this morning. For the cynics, no not the windjammer.

We went out in a small boat that held 24 people and 2 crew. Took a million pics, but will post only a few. The first whales we saw where Humpback. They are in Alaska from April to October and winter in Hawaii. Not a bad life.

They even waived back to me.

On the way back we saw three brown bears on the shore.

We made a side trip and saw some Orca Whales, also known as Killer Whales. Our understanding is they are not as common.

Happy Anniversary Lisa and Andrew!:champagne-toast:

Enjoying the review Andrew, great pics/videos and commentary.

I did the zipline in Icy Strait -- totally enjoyed it.

In honour of the moose sightings and just because it's so humid here --

Cheers!

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes. Tonight we are all out to Chops and then Lisa and I will make our cruise donation at the casino. Sharon and Owen are going to see an acrobatic magician tonight. Lord knows what it will be like but I bet they’ll have fun.

I have been trying to post pics but wifi is slow. Maybe later. I have a great video and pics but...

HaPpY AvInNeRsArY YoUs TwOs! We'll be up there next month to celebrate our 34th a few months late, and my wife's birthday a week late.

I saw your wife in an Alex Gordon Royals shirt, are you and the family Royals fans? I grew up in the KC area and have been a lifelong fan! I was there and remember when the KC Athletics moved to Oakland and the Royals started a couple years later.

Loving the review, by the way. Great big THANKS! Can't wait to get up there starting a month from today, August 24th!

I just found this review and still on page 6 (after peeking at a few of the more recent pages) and just wanted to share how much I'm enjoying the stunning scenery AND the hilarious commentary. Between the (meat)balls, facials, beaver fur, Minnow reference, and Fool's Chocolate, I'm crying from laughter. You sound like such a fun family (Sharon sounds like a gem of a grandma!)

Now back to page 6.

I’m done for tonight. The alarm is set for 5:50am. We have an early start tomorrow. We have zip lining and whale watching on the menu. I had a few more pics to post but the wifi isn’t agreeable.

First of all, Happy Anniversary, Andrew and Lisa! Hope you had a magical day! Based on what I've seen so far, it looks pretty good to me! Your plan, zip lining and whale watching sound great to me! The glass blowing tour looked like fun to me, but I think DH would have preferred your "Whore Tour".

Thanks for sharing your wedding pictures with us. Lisa, your dress was beautiful. You both looked very happy and in love, surrounded by family and friends.

DH and I are celebrating our anniversary on Oasis in September. It will be 18 wonderful years for us.

Finally. My video has linked up after 5 hours of uploading. Turn up your volume and enjoy. In all honesty the wifi is pretty good at playing stuff like YouTube, but uploading is another story.

After supper Lisa and I went to the casino and Owen and Sharon went off to spend some time together. We each dropped a $20 into the 2 cent slots. Literally on my second pull I won $48, and Lisa was down to $10. Lisa finished her $10 and I was still doing well. Another $20 went into a different machine for her.

My next spin, boom a $210 win on the 2 cent slots. I spun a few more times and cashed out. Lisa spun a bit a more and then had a mini jackpot. She punched out a $50 coupon. Total netted was just shy of $200. Not a bad night. Total time in the casino, 15 minutes. Won’t be back this cruise. Thank you RC.

We even got to go to the theatre and see the show Owen and grandma went to. Now, that was another story. Not a win.

Tomorrow we are in Ketchikan.

Hopefully I will have better data capabilities and can post photos then. Have a good night you all.

Alarm is set for 8 am. It might be the first sleep in, of the last 8 days.

That is pretty warm. We were in Juneau last year in June on Explorer we never saw 70F. Best we got to was low to mid 60's and lows in 40's. Enjoying your review, makes me want to go back.

Thanks for posting your zip line ride! My husband did it 10 years ago so this brought back memories. When they took the bus up to the top of the hill, a bear and her cub were on the trail so they had to sit on the bus for over and hour, waiting for them to pass.

A few picks from zip lining. You ride a bus through the community to get to the top of the mountain. Along the way you learn of the Island’s history. It takes around 45 minutes from the bottom to the top.

Then a short five minute walk down this path that makes you feel like like a mountain goat.

And finally you get harnessed in and you are off. 90 seconds later you are at the bottom and look something like this.
