Riocca Posted August 6, 2018 #176 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Something I don’t think has been mentioned yet regarding The Den, Spirits Bar is now open from 9am to Midnight and has been fitted with a coffee machine. So during the day it’s an alternative to Mosaics and they are able to make fabulous espresso martinis [emoji483] including decaf version for later at night [emoji39] Sent from my iPad using Forums

The old Spirits Bar was like the Marie Celeste during the day but I can see it being enjoyed much more now.
QueenP Posted August 6, 2018 #178 Share Posted August 6, 2018 I am really interested in knowing what special events happened when the 'sisters met'. I'm looking at 2020 voyages and the ones I'm looking at show that all 3 ships meet in Venice on Oct 10th 2020. Would something special happen for this occasion? They have included extra onboard credit for bookings done on the ship within a window. Phil

Alsun Posted August 6, 2018 Author #186 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Am not sure, but think I read somewhere that Haugesund is a Maiden Port for Azamara? Anyway it definitely was a maiden port (of course) for Pursuit, and for a Two Sisters Meet! Despite the cold & rain, we received a warm welcome by Norwegian -maidens and by a music band. They were there when we docked, and also still there when we returned from our tour several hours later. The tour we took today was the Viking tour to the Viking farm at Avaldsnes/Nordvegen History Centre/ St. Olav's Church. Azamara had arranged shuttle busses for both Pursuit and Journey passengers from the dock to the city centre. Very convenient, and we spent some time walking around Haugesund before taking the Viking tour bus from Our Saviour Church. It is tricky to see, but in one of the photos below you can just spot the 2 funnels of both Pursuit and Journey. Alsun Posted August 6, 2018 Author #187 Share Posted August 6, 2018 For anyone visiting Haugesund, we can recommend doing the Viking Tour. This tour only takes place on days a cruise ship docks. The bus departs from Our Saviours Church at 11 and returns there around 14.30 - but will drop off both at the Church and at the cruise terminal. (Not sure if these times vary according to the cruise schedule.) After a 15 minute bus drive, we arrived in Avaldnes were Mats, our "Viking" tour guide gave us some information before leading us on a walk to the Viking Farm. It was still a bit cold & wet, but luckily got drier later. The walk itself takes maybe 20 minutes? There is a good path, but it does go up and down a bit, so comfortable outdoor footwear is recommended (and also watch out for the sheep droppings...) Mats gave us some more information at several points during the walk. Once at the Viking Farm, we all were grateful to sit around the roaring fire and listen to some more Viking history and ask some questions. We were really impressed by Mats, he is very knowledgeable and friendly (plus I saw some other tours with their guides and thought "our guide" looked the best "Viking"..... ) Afterwards there is about 2 hours to walk around by yourself and enjoy the beautiful nature, visit the Nordvegen History Centre and St Olav's Church. Re the Nordvegen History Centre, it is good to allow about 45 minutes to an hour for this as it starts with a film lasting about 18-20 minutes. The film will be shown every 20-25 minutes or so, depending on the number of visitors. It might not be suitable for very small children, but the staff will advise on that. Audio guides are provided (and we did have some fun re when to press the black button - those who were there/are familiar will know what I refer to..) St Olav's church is currently covered in scaffolding/tarpaulin so not much to see from the outside, but we went briefly inside and listened to someone playing the organ. We didn't feel like looking around more in Haugesund itself so went back to Pursuit and are now spending some time on the Pool deck with a drink. There will be a sail away party later & am also looking forward to try out the Indian buffet in Windows - have read good things about that one on CC! Alsun Posted August 6, 2018 Author #188 Share Posted August 6, 2018 The much welcomed fire! Loved the wood smell. (And was pleased to hear they replaced the fish oil in the lamps with a more neutral smelling oil) And sheeps - these are the same kind of sheep as during Viking times. Alsun Posted August 7, 2018 Author #194 Share Posted August 7, 2018 Day 7 Eidfjord Early morning view from our balcony sailing into Eidfjord. Cloudy sky but with hints of blue. And some photos taken from pool/sun deck. But, it is impossible (for me) to make photos that do properly justice to the beauty of this fjord. Even on a cloudy morning like today, standing on deck watching the fjord glide by is indescribable beautiful. Alsun Posted August 7, 2018 Author #195 Share Posted August 7, 2018 As requested photo Living room area band/dance floor. Bit dark there now so difficult to make photos but hope it gives an impression. Will see if I remember to take some during day time. Don't have any photos from deck 4 - re extra rooms. To me it just looks like a guest area with corridors and staircase leading of it. From Windows there are 2 sets of sliding doors leading onto Sunset Veranda. Alsun Posted August 7, 2018 Author #196 Share Posted August 7, 2018 More views from our balcony - and more blue sky! We are currently just watching the scenery pass by from our bed with dashes out onto the balcony to capture some photos. But as said, I can't do justice to the amazing nature here. (Certainly not with my point & shoot approach on my mobile phone) (Unfortunately we can't leave the balcony door open at the moment as every time we open the door, the strong draft is causing a high whistling sound) Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
cinnamon Posted August 7, 2018 #197 Share Posted August 7, 2018 Also some photos of the new staterooms area on deck 4 near Guest Relations Peter Peter, if you check the Azamara threads there is one called Pursuit Photos. Alsun Posted August 7, 2018 Author #199 Share Posted August 7, 2018 Some food photos to give an idea of the breakfast room service menu. European - fresh fruit, cheese and smoked salmon plus pastries. Did dislike it though that the smoked salmon is not put on a separate small dish as the fish "juice" now mixed with the fruit due to the design of the plate. Salmon - smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, boiled egg, onion etc. Comes with toasted bagel (in the bread basket). This is delicious. (It was a bit too cold to have our breakfast on the balcony) Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
