Thanks for that … yes I have some and it is lovely.

I know I’m a peasant.   The more expensive the cognac the less character it has and the cheaper the armagnac the more character it has.

Ergo.  QED.  I am a sometimes after a cheap armagnac a pleasant peasant.

🙂

You can't blame anyone else if you fall in your driveway. It's your own asphalt.

I've started telling everyone about the benefits of eating dried grapes. It's all about raisin awareness.

I've started investing in stocks: beef, vegetable, chicken. One day I hope to be a bouillianaire.

Scientifically, a raven has 17 primary wing feathers, the big ones at the end of the wing. They are called pinion feathers. A crow has 16. So, the difference between a raven and a crow is only a matter of a pinion.

I was walking in the jungle and saw a lizard on his hind legs telling jokes. I turned to a local tribal leader and said, "That lizard is really funny!" The leader replied, "That's not a lizard. He's a stand-up chameleon.

I tried to come up with a carpentry pun that woodwork. I thought I nailed it but nobody saw it.

Help me decide. Diana Krall or Dusty Springfield sing Bacharach at his finest. The voice is clearly a flute or clarinet or oboe - but which is the better?

I love DK, however, for me, the Dusty Springfield version is an emotional juggernaut. I loved the Casino Royal LP version the best. An exceptional recording if there ever was one.

I just made my first post in the cooler...

I love this one!  It's not shown as a quote as I copied it to my (soon to be former) friends elsewhere & i guess I shouldn't have hit paste here in the cooler.

It’s lovely to welcome you to the Cooler.

It’s interesting to read of DS’s perfectionism and how much work and sweat she’d put into every single note of every single song.

Looking forward to seeing more of your posts!

Winter is here. Sunday as usual: strolling along the beach, lunch at home but delivered from a nearby restaurant, movie on streaming (Ferrari) and that’s it.

Interesting movie.  Still can't figure out how they did the crash scenes (especially the second one).

We are now in Darwin taking the long way to get to Hokkaido. We booked this about 8 months ago and the reason for coming via Darwin was very simple. There were no Business class redemptions on Singapore Airlines from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. I hadn't realised that Queensland School Holidays began 3 days ago. but I remembered SQ flies from Darwin to Singapore and they had business class awards available.

Again on this holiday I had taken no notice of SS sailings so we leave Darwin a day before the Cloud arrives back from Broome.

But as a few on this board may do a Kimberley cruise in the future I will report on our restaurant experiences. Tonight we dined on the Darwin Waterfront at Wharf One. We really enjoyed it. We began at 5pm as that is when happy hour started. We got a bottle of a Margaret river Sauvignon blanc at $7 off but with complimentary dips which were more than we figured on

Hummus ,babaganoush and a sweet potato dip with Rosemary and maple syrup. Very nice.

Then sharing some small plates. Best was rice pickled scallops with a ponzu glaze. Excellent.

A very nice carpaccio.

Citrus cured yellow fin tuna lovely.

And finished with wood grilled baby octopus with balsamic viniagrette.

Definitelt worth a visit.

We've rented a "tiny house" a couple blocks from the The Wedge House - modern minimalist design with Japanese shou sugiban hand-charred wood facade.Atlantic Ocean for a few days, just a quick getaway from the sweltering heat back home.  Arrived in a downpour but c'est la vie.  Picture is from their posting on AirBnB.  Quite nice in person too.

That looks elegant!

With the rain ruling out a beach visit or our favorite seafood store a few miles off, the nearby Publix (grocery store, as Lois can attest) had bay scallops, baking potatoes, & a premade salad for our 1st night dinner here.  Also had a nice red blend from California which I am working my way through with the help of cheese crackers.  Wife on a low cal vodka path - each to her/his own.  The place is growing on me, even if I end up sleeping on the couch.

Another very good Darwin restaurant if you are there before or after your Kimberley cruise. We found this one when the Muse stopped here last November. Moorish. At our time in life we like the idea of tapas so we can enjoy a few flavours. So first the menu.

I had Coopers Pale Ale - worth a try if you are in Australia and rojaan had her SB.

She finished with her favourite dessert. Turkish delight ice cream with strawberries. It does come with a chocolate sauce but she much prefers it without that sauce.

A Day at the beach, wife refusing to be photographed, so me, with apologies.  I do tell her how beautiful I think she is; who is it that is telling her she isn't?  TV?  Put all that aside, because I just wanted to share a bit of our nice day at the shore.
