1metfan Posted August 21, 2018 #26 Share Posted August 21, 2018 I think I'm going to do some beer this time. How nice would it be to have some cold bottles of beer in my room? Done this on each of my cruises. I usually order the cooler bag and beer combo. Too my disappointment the beer has always been delivered room temp.:(
1metfan Posted August 21, 2018 #27 Share Posted August 21, 2018 We also try to send a little something to each cabin in our party. Usually cookies, gummies, fruit tray, etc.. Also order cakes for the dining room for birthdays and anniversaries. Everything they deliver is always so yummy. And usually start our with a case of water and reorder if necessary
sept2405 Posted August 21, 2018 #28 Share Posted August 21, 2018 I always get a couple of boxes of the freshly baked cookies. They are sooo good! I open them as soon as we get in the cabin. We also get water and drinks
Cruise Envy Posted August 21, 2018 #29 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Case of water, a fruit basket for my husband, and sometimes a four pack of beer. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Brownd3max Posted August 21, 2018 #30 Share Posted August 21, 2018 What kind of things do you purchase from the fun shop, pre-cruise? Anything really stuck out for you? A twelve pack of water, and more importantly, a Litre of Grey Goose. Always. LOL.
kona_wahine Posted August 21, 2018 #31 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Done this on each of my cruises. I usually order the cooler bag and beer combo.Too my disappointment the beer has always been delivered room temp.:( Yes, the beer is NOT cold when you get to the room, and the fridge’s do NOT get it as cold as it should be. Learned not to order before hand, as you don’t save any money.
1bellamarie Posted August 21, 2018 #32 Share Posted August 21, 2018 If you do order snacks before hand, are they there upon boarding or delivered later? How does that work?
nireg Posted August 21, 2018 #33 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Usually we pre purchase a 12 pack of water just to have readily available (even though we get the Cheers package). Once, we got a towel/tote combo as souvenirs for the kids and they liked that surprise. Our next cruise we will get the soft sided cooler with the beer (to take onto Princess Cay) Sent from my iPhone using Forums 2 cases of water, bottle of rum and bring on 2- 12 packs of Diet Pepsi with 2 bottles of wine. And 2 drink cups/ quart container to put in cooler bag to walk around. That and the DOU cards in the casino is more than enough beverages for an 8 day cruise! dmdiver Posted August 21, 2018 #35 Share Posted August 21, 2018 12-pack of water is all we typically order. We bring our own wine sometimes. Our neighbor orders coke and liquor.
meatloafsfan Posted August 21, 2018 #36 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Water, soda and cookies for sure. Sometimes liquor, sometimes a gift item. Recently started ordering a cake to be delivered to the dining room on night 2 (first formal night); not a big fan of the desserts that night. Djptcp Posted August 21, 2018 #39 Share Posted August 21, 2018 We buy a flower arrangement for 7+ day cruises, used to buy cookies, and used to buy a bottle of liquor for the cabin before the prices went up to $75+. We now receive free cookies and wine from the casino and chocolate covered strawberries, so don't need to buy them anymore or bring wine onboard with us. Rare CruzerDeb Posted August 21, 2018 #40 Share Posted August 21, 2018 I've purchased a case of water for the room as well as the soft-sided Carnival cooler with Bud Light, coozie and opener. I've reused the cooler on other cruises and have taken it off with beer and water for excursions.

Or save the beer for off-ship excursions later . . .
Matlily Posted August 21, 2018 #42 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Our next cruise is 8 day alaskan, two bottles of crown, 24 cokes, 2 cases of water and internet, normally from our home port we would carry on the soda but were not lugging it around in Seattle too much luggage this time for cold weather. BranDivah Posted August 21, 2018 #43 Share Posted August 21, 2018 I usually buy 2 cases of water for 7 day cruises...but I am only getting one for my upcoming 3 day. Also we get a treat (the small plate with the choc covered strawberries, truffles and macarons were yummy).

Rare L1211 Posted August 22, 2018 #47 Share Posted August 22, 2018 I’m sure someone out there has priced out the cost per drink if buying bottle service and mixers and beers from the fun shop. I just purchased Cheers without giving this alternative much thought. Anyone? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There is a chart offered to help you make the decision somewhere. Not worth it if you get free drinks in casino. Even without, adding another almost $1k to the bill doesn’t appeal to me. Would rather buy a few and make my own during the day from the room. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sent from my iPhone using Forums Break even in Cheers with 10 drinks? I don’t think so. More like 5 or 6 plus you get the speciality coffees, shakes, cokes, bottled water from the bar etc. While I do realize you can get drinks from the casino or from your room, there’s the whole convenience factor...I don’t want to have to keep going back and forth to get a cocktail. Also, I’m not going to want to drink the same thing all day, all week...that’s just me though. Everyone does what works best for them but my main point was 10 drinks was way high to break even, especially since gratuity is included with Cheers.
