i read on a facebook group, they was police on the pier. maybe they had to pick someone up or something happened on board

Perhaps another Bermuda shakedown ? They are famous for boarding the ship with drug sniffing dogs looking for passengers that can be charged with possession then fined heavily. Definitely not worth trying to bring illegal drugs on board !!

If 3 runners were late returning, delayed sailing is typically at ship captain's discretion ... some will wait while others will not, amount of time varied - return from Bermuda (and, most ports) has "slack" in timing/speed built into the timeline, just like airline flights.

Well, it also take time for ship security to get the "go-ahead" from hotel/guest services to retrieve, pack and secure all the personal belongings from the MIA's stateroom(s) or cabins, open the safe & secure/itemize the contents, including passports, etc. ... and, hand them/transfer to the port agent on the pier, when & if the latecomers eventually show up to wave farewell to the ship. Last time we watched this live, was in Port Canaveral and took 45+ minutes beyond scheduled departure time ... rollerboards & spinners were taken off the ship and left on the pier, plus whatever in large plastic bags ...

If they are lucky & harbor conditons deemed safe enough, maybe possibly "hitch" a $$$ ride on the tug boat from Willie and his crew to catch up with the ship, put on PFD and step onto the gangplank and climb up the ropes to board or get pulled up onto the moving ship ... not exactly fun (find those videos on YT)

We never saw anything but they did repeatedly call for the same three men to report in so I'm assuming they were late. I did wonder how long they will inconvenience a shipful for three people.

Two weeks ago Escape left at 16:06 as two ladies were running down the pier. How long they will wait varies but don't expect to wait too long. Supposedly the ladies got a ride to ship as MKing describes.

Why not find the source of the drugs on their own island? That might work. But I guess it's better to hassle tourists spending money on their island.
