Port or Starboard Cabin

If you look at the map of your route, you can decide. Like if you are travelling from St. Pete to Germany, the land side will be to port and if there is anything to see, would therefore be on port side. That was my thinking when I booked my stateroom. And when going north from Copenhagen, again, most land is on port side. Otherwise in ports or bays, I don't think it makes any difference.

Most of the interesting things as you approach St Petersburg are on the port side, but on the starboard side sailing out...so really doesn't matter. Some ships do a little narrative sailing out.

But, in the big picture, being top deck is generally more important than one side or the other.
