What happens when 2 people book a cruise and only 1 shows up at the embarkation dock .

Royal will refund the taxes and an pre-cruise purchases for the person who does not show up.

The person who does go on the cruise will get an extra cruise point per night.

Not sure what happens on a UK booking where the taxes are not split out (built into the fare) like on a US booking.

The same happens: double points and you get the taxes refunded

The taxes are shown separately over here too

They don't actually care if anyone shows up...they've got your money!

So they don’t care that there’s one less person spending their money on drinks, specialty restaurants, souvenirs, bingo, excursions, casino and tips?

Interesting. I never knew it.

Of course they'd rather have you on board spending money on those things. But they aren't exactly crying because they got to keep your money while you stayed home.

Have the person traveling named as the primary guest. This caused me several visits to guest services to get OBC issues sorted out.

Also suggest keep all original paperwork at least the invoice. When it came time to file the claim the $ figures were way off when reprinting from the TA site. Luckily still had originals.

Related question: What happens when 3 people book a cruise in a cabin where 3 is the minimum occupancy requirement and only 2 show up at the embarkation dock?

The cruise line can't do much at that point, but I guess there's a very small chance they could move you.

There’s are plenty of people on the ship who don’t spend money on those things, and they save a bunch of food.
