cleob Posted September 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2018 Although I've been on a number of cruises, I've never had to use a tender before. We're going on Mariner in a few weeks and will need to tender at Coco Cay. How large are the tenders? What's the wait like to get off the ship? We have a glass bottom boat tour at 9 AM so we need to get off fairly early. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Ourusualbeach Posted September 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2018 People with excursions will be asked to meet (most likely in the theatre). Those with early excursions will be tendered off the ship first.
BaumD Posted September 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2018 On the first day you will get your excursion tickets in your cabin. On the ticket it will say something like "meet in the Theater - deck 5 at 8:45am". When you get there you will get a sticker with a tour number, then you will have a seat. When they call your number, your entire tour group will be escorted to the tender and then to the island.
cb at sea Posted September 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2018 The tenders hold a couple hundred at a time. Not everyone is in a rush to get off the ship...some like to have a leisurely breakfast, then get off later in the morning...some don't leave the ship at all! nelblu Posted September 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2018 Keep an eye on the daily planner in the cruise compass. On Anthem, they decided to begin giving out tender tickets the day before a scheduled stop in Bar Harbor. It was written in the daily the planner, but I never noticed it. Got #15 the next day when we waited in line at 7AM. It wasn't much of a problem as the tender ferries took some 300 at a time.
gatour Posted September 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2018 Since Coca Cay, is Royal's private island it is obvious that you booked your excursion through Royal Caribbean. In this case what ourusualbeach said applies. You will have tickets in your stateroom and and there will be information about where to gather on-board ship. You will then be escorted to the tenders. For other tender ports (for example Grand Cayman) the process could be different depending if you book an excursion through Royal or a private tour.
