It won't let me private message you my email address.

im sorry - i kinda smile at this thread -

the OP says that the entire week as a series of let downs - but the one that is most important is not getting an invitation.

that being said - people are only human - give them a break if they made a small slip up...last time we sailed on MSC in March, we had so much mail, it was kinda crazy - so it was very easy for us to not see or misplace or just didnt open it up....Example, we were having drinks on the Bar at 830pm at night getting ready to go for dinner and the conceirge comes up to us and asked us why we were not at the captains table (she advise that an invite was sent to our cabin, which i am sure it was in all the mail) - and unfortunately we missed out (done it before anyways), but some things just get overlooked...not just by the crew but also the consumer as well - again we are ALL only human....

I would appreciate you "Quoting me" as to where I stated that it was the most important one. That's quite an assumption, on your part. And, a fairly smartass comment from yourself.

all i was saying is that you mentioned "the cruise left a sour taste" - and you will not be sailing on MSC again - so i am hoping that you are not cruising again because u did not get an invitation delivered - i  will assume you had more serious issues during your week to  come to this conclusion -

Again, everyone is only human and mistakes happen - they happen in life every day - ....

I will try to copy/past my review of these items from the URComped Facebook page by tomorrow. My father passed, and I have been dealing with all of that. Today is the funeral.

So, for those of you that think it is just about a stupid Meet & Mingle invite, You're wrong.

I had just posted that here, as a starter to this conversation.

That is because,  the "CRUISE CRITIC MEET & MINGLE is directly affiliated with this website/forum.

I have to admit that I was one of the people who thought this.

I guess I was drawn in by the title of the thread and the fact that the invite was the subject of most of Post #1 in the thread.

Typically, unimportant things are barely mentioned. Things included in the title, especially those followed by an exclamation point, are views as important.

I'm really sorry to read that your father has passed away. My condolences on your loss. You should take your time and only return here when you feel ready. We do want to read the details of your cruise but only when you're ready. Ken

We received the CC Meet and Greet, but the time said 10.  No am or pm indicated.  As it was the first morning of the cruise and we slept late, we were hoping that it was 10 pm, but no one was in the lounge when we went that evening.  We must have missed a morning gathering.  As far as the Black Card affair, we received the card, but discovered after the fact that it was stuck to another card in the same envelope.  So we were unhappy to miss both get togethers.  😥

This is going to be my "Copy & Paste" of my review on the URComped page of Facebook.

Please be aware that these are my "Opinions", and you may, or may not agree with them.

Well, I have just returned on my first URComped cruise. It was on the MSC Seaside, 10/13-10/20/18. Went in with a very "Open" mind, knowing it is a European cruise line. I wish, that besides the beautiful vessel/ship itself, that I could give my experience a positive review. 😔😔
If anybody would like me to elaborate, please just ask.
URComped did us well, on their part. Very happy with our URComped experience. As for the MSC part, VERY unhappy.

Just as a point: I will be the first to "Commend" great employees, or service. Just as I will speak up about bad/inferior service. I'll try to use "Bullets", as I'm not good at the Facebook "thing". And, just so you know, I own my HVAC "Service" company, that works off of referrals, and does not advertise. Customer service is King.

1. Casino = 10 Tables (2 roulette, a few Blackjack, a few poker all in the Non-smoking side) 126 slot machines (about 40 machines on the Non-smoking side) This is the absolute tightest payback, on slots, of any land or ship based casino that I have ever been at. Even when playing the tables, the comps were horrible. Most slot bonuses, on a $2-3.00 bet, would net a bonus of anywhere between $1.20-$15.00 on the average. Most dealers were nice.

2. The casino bar staff was rude. Except, for a couple of people.
Ronald, was By Far, the best server we had on the ship.
Excellent service from him, consistently. Besides non-existent drink service on the casino floor. I had to deal with several instances of being billed for drinks in the casino. Only, to have to go waste time at customer service to get the charges straightened out, on 3 different days. The casino is the right size for a ship of about 2500-3000 passengers, in my opinion. Not nearly large enough for a ship of 5000+ passenger. I quit smoking 20 years ago. The smoke on the smoking side is absolutely unrelenting. People just crowd in there, even if they are not playing, and chain smoke the shit out of their cigarettes, vapes, and even cigars. It was so bad, that I'm trying to get over bronchitis right now, from being in there.

2. The ship, and our cabin were Very nice. We were very pleased with the vessel.

 3. Main dining room. Inconsistency, at its finest. Cold, unseasoned food, with outrageous wait times. We would arrive, before the tables surrounding us had their diners seated. Then, we would watch them come in, eat their starters, and main entrees. Then, we would get our starters an hour later. One meal, I ordered the Chicken Parm. It was about a 3/8" thick piece of what I believe was actually chicken, with a soggy pale breading on it. And, about a tablespoon of marinara. No pasta, or anything else. My recommendation. Consider the buffet. It, actually has pretty decent food.

4. Pools. There are several nice pool areas around the ship. The tube/raft slides are fun. The body slides were okay. One of them, you almost get stopped in the tube. They were fun though. The pools and hot tubs are all very nice. Several large hot tubs, and the deep pools were nice. But, they all shut down at 8:00. Except, the solarium pool which shuts down at 9:45. This is ridiculous in my personal opinion. We prefer to relax in the hot tubs at night.

 5. My MSC app: I actually loved this app, and the use of the cabin's smart TV's. This was invaluable, to verify showtimes, erroneous charges to my account, etc.. I think this works great.

6. Staff: The staff, pretty much as a whole. Would bypass an American passenger that had been waiting, to help a European passenger. Also, they would bypass the female passengers, to help a male first. Sick

#7 Embarkation/Disembarkation: Great. We boarded the ship at 12:00 Noon. No lines. Even though we were matched to Black Card, that didn't matter. We did Self Disembark at 7:15 a.m. After, I spent an hour getting my almost $200.00 in bad charges removed from my bill from "Butcher's Cut" Black card meal, and another bad casino bar tab, from the night before. Thanks to the app. I was able to realize it in time.

8. The ship. Extremely smooth. We were in 14219, a Fantastica Balcony cabin. Very pleased

9. The shows/entertainment: Weird, different, unsure. Although the "Talent" is very good. The shows seemed to be a "Hodge Podge" of stuff. It seemed, that if they were to take 20% of each nights show, and piece them together. That they would be able to make 5 nights worth of shows, that were a consistent theme. Couldn't "grasp" the concept changes in the shows.

Although, I have to say, that the pole dancer, and hula hooper, could work every night. 😂😂😂😂

10. The "Other Cruisers" This was the icing on the cake. Absolutely, the rudest cruisers, that I have ever had the displeasure of being on a ship with. If you are American, they will plow through you, throughout the ship. Block the hot tubs and pools, cut in front of you everywhere. At the buffet, tables, pools, etc... Several other Americans on this cruise, felt the need to state this, without "provocation". As I try to be a "positive" and "Friendly" person. I always say hello to anyone on the elevator. Upon asking, or "steering" the conversation,  EVERY SINGLE American passenger that I encountered on the elevator, stated that they will never sail MSC again.
One said "One, and done. Never again on MSC! I guess. At least I'm drinking a cold beer while sailing on the Caribbean. At least I'm not working."

11. The URComped "friends" night @ Butcher's Cut, for our Black Card dinner. Severely lacking food quality, and service. Then, to find out the next day in the casino, that they never delivered the 2 bottles of champagne to our table, that Gian Carlo, the casino host had sent to our dinner. Also, to find out that I had been billed for the entire meal that was supposed to be complimentary for our Black Card except for the upgrades that I had opted for.

A couple of points I've forgotten. But, i will touch on those when I remember what they were. Like it, or not. I will say, that I would rather have friendly, competent people and service. on a "Lesser" cruise ship. Than what was experienced on this beautiful ship. As this one had an EXTREMELY high percentage of rude, and incompetent staff and cruisers.

Fire ... Good to hear that you liked the ship at least, with the Black card meal was it just you who had one ? I can understand how you would be included in the overall bill.

It sounds like many of the crew may have been new from what you describe.

We avoid the casino on any ship if there is smoking allowed anywhere.

The rudeness you mention of other cruisers is not seen as that where they come from and it all comes down to tollerence levels.

Sadly the Italians are not known for their customer service or organisation.

Totally agree with you on the food! We used the MDR only 2 nights. We had the chicken p. Whatever it was suppose to be. Another couple next to us had the same comment about the chicken p.

We really enjoy the entertainment!

No enforcement of MDR frees code or chair hogs.

Other than that,  very good cruise. Booked again for next year.
