I suppose I'm a bit naive to assume that rccl would have been fair to everyone. The bottom line is I had a great time, I liked the ports, but I wouldn't have minded the same compensation as the navigator. I sent 6 emails with a copy of the navigator letter asking why. I asked guest services. I dont know what more i could have done. At this point the cruise is over and theres nothing more I can do other than continue to cruise with itinieries and prices that work with my budget. CarlosandJoel Posted December 9, 2018 #80 Share Posted December 9, 2018 Apples and Oranges... I see no reason nor advantage to bring this to this forum instead of addressing this non issue with RCI directly. In my opinion this person looks to be looking for compensation all the time. Different things are being posted by different people. Some are saying that Navigator had a maintenance issue. It apparently is different from the OP's claim because the posted itinerary change replaced 3 ports with 3 other ports. Yet the OP stated that two ports were missed and one replaced. So clearly the issue is confused and a clear set of facts not displayed. Usually cruise lines do not compensate for weather induced changes that occur during the cruise, but do for maintenance induced changes. They also tend to be consistent between sailings. That would make me lean in favor of those posting that a maintenance issue was involved. However, it also appears that Navigator passengers were notified in advance of the change and had the option to cancel the cruise. The OBC and FCC was given for those that chose to stay on the cruise. What is not clear from this discussion is when the Jewel passengers were notified. While there are clearly passengers from the Jewel there does not appear to be a similar copy of their notification letter. If someone would post a copy of their letter it might be possible to see the reason for differences. Edited December 9, 2018 by RDC1

If we could actually get a complete set of facts, it would be interesting to see some clarity into the decision making process. One big difference between the two crossings was that the navigator was originally supposed to be a Northern Atlantic crossing with an over night in NYC. It was totally rerouted to a southern crossing route. The Jewel was originally a southern crossing, and even though the ports were changed it remained a southern crossing

On Jewel, we found out about itinerary change at Consecutive Cruiser meeting - rumour was around day before - got official letter day after. Maybe someone else can confirm but our letter said nothing about being able to cancel or a refund policy. We were not given that option. And many guests only found out about itinerary change upon arrival/check-in when they could do nothing about it. We did not get nor were we advised of any difference or refund for port charges/taxes due to change. Again, a complete double-standard. NJ I suspect is because of the magnatude of the change, in the case of navigator you had a northern route with an overnight in New York changed to a southern route. with the Jewel you had a southern ta route that remained a southern TA route with port changes. I also suspect that they got earlier notification because weather patterns made it quite clear that a northern route was not viable at all. RDC1 Posted December 11, 2018 #100 Share Posted December 11, 2018 Just now, NJ&Ozzie said: Sounds like something RC or Jewel management would say... NJ Maybe. You asked and what I stated is the only thing that I can find. So maybe there management might say the same thing because it might actually be the reason. Still would be interesting to see a copy of the notification letter, if one was sent out or given out on board. Now the one other item that might impact the potential for compensation is that the Navigator left from the UK. As such they may have provided the option to cancel along with the notification as required under UK booking terms. Again due to the weather and route it would have been clear days earlier that the northern route was not viable.
