Come on NCL -- please drop prices for Xmas!

Been eyeing an Xmas cruise out of NYC.

For a 4 person cabin, there's still 42 rooms avaiable.

For a 3 person cabin, there's over 72 (I didn't add the 4 person cabins that could be used for 3)

And for Mini- suites there are 89 cabins not booked...

It's less than 2 months away -- how come the price is just going up???

Drop the price! (*please*)

I am actually on this cruise and am watching the prices every day to see how that might impact my bid to a Haven room from a MidShip Balcony. I’m shocked they have not dropped the prices yet either.

True never thought about the GA balconies.

Way to burst my bubble -- lol.

Side note -- what gets assigned first GA cabins or Bidding cabins? Side side note: are GA cabins allowed to bid?

Don't expect a price drop on any sailings that begin between December 15 and January 5th. That is high season, as in very high season. Those cruises are usually more expensive than the most expensive spring break cruises.

Hahahahaha!!!

Only week that might be more expensive than Christmas week is the following week...New Years week.

We always cruise between Thanksgiving and the start of Christmas break. Those two/three weeks are usually the cheapest of the year, in our experience.

If you can cruise VERY last minute and aren't picky you may get something less expensive than the rates you see today. We often plan to get away during the two-week period the kids are off school for Christmas break. Last year we got a week an an AI resort in Manzanillo over Christmas last minute (3 day prior) for $7K less than it was advertised two weeks earlier... CAD $3,280 for a 4.5 star (airfare and everything else included). I also follow cruise prices and have seen some reasonable drops but always get foiled when I have to try to get airfare that works.

How are you able to see that many cabins? In doing a mock booking, I can only see a maximum of 15 cabins per category.

I'm in Toronto, so I can easily drive down (weather permitting) if price drops.

If not, I'm happy for a white Christmas but love cruising so hopefully, I was not too naughty this year...

IreiBajan54 -- I go onto costco site and do a mock booking with 3 or 4 and it shows how many cabins can be choosen.

We went on a cruise that came back Dec. 23. That same cruise following ours for Christmas was 2 1/2 times the price that we paid. Christmas cruises will not go down in price. They sell out because so many people have made this their Christmas tradition.

If you don't have any children you may want to skip this time of year (Christmas and New Years) as the ship will be crawling with children, many of which will not be escorted or well behaved. Just sayin'

Dear xcell,

I checked your naughtiness score and all I have to say is.....

.... enjoy your white Christmas in Toronto this year.

Sincerely,

Santa

P.S. Enjoy a white Christmas in Toronto in 2019 and 2002 too!

😀😊

Got my lump of coal -- balcony rooms are starting to be assigned.

Down from 42 (4 persons) to 29.

Prices also started to go up.

And all Haven rooms (at least for 3 and 4 persons) have been assigned.

White Christmas, here I come!

Having to travel at Christmas anywhere exotic and wanting somewhat reasonable prices like maybe spring break prices has in my experience always been difficult.  There are too many people out there where this is the only week that works for their family with school calendars or that getting together that week is a family tradition.  And although percentages may be small there are a lot of people out there with plenty of disposable income that aren't that price sensitive.

Air is a killer too.  I don't know how many times I have flown on Christmas Day to have more reasonable airfare with holiday travel.  If you are willing to drive and have some flexibility, though, that's huge.  I've never tried a holiday cruise.  I have, though, gotten let's say decent last minute good prices on condos from owners in Florida, things like that (people who were holding off renting their units, trying for ridiculously high prices for that week and then willing to rent the unit for their maintenance fee and maybe $100 or $200).  For me too, these deals usually came up maybe three weeks before the holiday.

I caved -- booked the cruise -- but not the week our friends are going, the following week -- 9 day, instead of 7 day and got it cheaper than the 7 day...  I'll miss my friend but the drinking package should help! Now hoping for the bidding...
