Gimer Posted November 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2018 Email from Princess for San Francisco's 2020 Alaska Cruise season list Star Princess, starting off on May 23, 2020. HOO RAH! We get Skywalker back and loose the Alfredo's Pizzeria. It's 4 years newer than the Grand. Now I can start booking, knowing Star will be home ported here.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted November 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2018 It's about time they gave us a different ship in SF. I like the Grand but she is getting a little old and not maintained well enough. We will miss the window suites but have one booked on her for the fall so that will be that. Looking forward to having something different in our home port. 1

BarbinMich Posted November 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2018 We boarded the Star in SF for an Alaskan cruise in May 2014. Where's the ship been between then and 2020 when it "returns"? Thanks.

cflutist Posted November 15, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 15, 2018 Great, the Star has a Thermal suite which is complimentary for suite passengers, while the Grand does not. I was getting tired of the Grand too. Northwest Coastal on the Grand in March 2020 then that's it for us.
roomba920 Posted November 21, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2018 We took the Star to Hawaii out of L.A. She's a great ship. I loved the covered pool and the Vista Lounge is nicer than Club Fusion IMO.
Sea Hag Posted November 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2018 We did one cruise on the Star and liked her a lot. We had the best waiter ever on that cruise.
justafem Posted November 21, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 21, 2018 So we'll have the Star for a year before she's transferred to P&O. Personally love the Grand (and the window suites), but I'll deal.
