solo perks

Based on my experiences, the amount paid doesn't matter on NCL. What matters is whether or not there is a latitudes rewards promotions being offered at the time you book your cruise. I have sailed solo with a zero supplement on a sailing that offered a latitudes reward promotion and have been awarded double points. Also, sail away rates are exempted from promotions, so you have to book a non sail away rate.

Well it is too bad, I paid exactly double for this cruise and on all other lines that I have cruised solo credited me for double points each day. I should have checked before I guess but with that policy it will be my last on NCL as a solo. It isn’t a sail away rate.

Ok  so your priority for sailing is points, and "perks"???   Interesting.     NCL  is a cruise line that drops supplements,  has cheaper studio cabins,,   solo meet & greets  with organized activities.       I  sail for an extensive itinerary priority, which  NCL has as well.       Perks are way down my list.

If you're most important thing is earning points for loyalty... Why don't you pick a line and stick with it then?  What's the point of earning points over multiple lines when you don't really start getting perks until you move way up into higher categories??

To each their own,  the itinerary was available on other cruise lines, many have cheaper supplements for solos but this sailing I am paying double, there are no studios on this ship. I think if I am paying full price for  2 people I should at least get points for 2. I certainly won’t eat for two so NCL is making a huge profit on me without a single tiny benefit to me.

That's just not how it works regardless of what you think...

If you think they are making a “huge profit” from you sailing solo, you know very little about the profit  structure of a cruiseline.

I hear your point... it's just not NCLs policy. I'm not sure you'll get much leverage from your argument on CC but I would call NCL to "negotiate"... you may just get the right person on the right day and get a little something added to your cruise... I would hold your breath, however, for the extra daily loyalty point.

This is the most true statement I think I've read all day.

So paying double doesn’t count on NCL like on other cruiselines?

Out curiosity, what other cruise lines give you double loyalty points if you book solo and pay full double fare?  I'm curious.

I know plenty about all these subjects. Obviously they are making more on me paying double for a room and only eating for one, using 1/2 the linens etc.

Judy, I'm not sure what you're getting at really.  All cruise lines, IMO anyway, have their pluses and minues when it comes to certain types of cruisers, some are seniors, some solos, some families, some couples; many have their preferences and theres nothing that they feel compares favorably with what they prefer so it's sometimes just better to stay with what you know and apparently love.

There's nothing wrong with that... my preference is NCL and as  recent solo cruiser, it has met and surpassed my needs and wants so I will continue to cruise with them. Perhaps you should do the same.

Cheers, enjoy your cruises

You're not paying double. You are paying the price for the cabin whether there is one person or two in it. The per person pricing is an advertising gimmick, because the price is always for the whole cabin.

Cruise  revenue is significant for the casino,  shore excursion,  purchases   etc.    Doesn't matter what YOUR spending is,   it's as the whole average of pp spending.     Food costs are low.      As noted above,  your cost is the  cabin cost.    Just like when you stay at a hotel.     It isn't double if 2 people are in the room, with it half price for 1.

BUT,   NCL   does drop the supplements ,  way more frequently than other cruise lines,   for last minute cruises.      I cruise at least every month and haven't paid a double supplement yet. (and don't plan to :)  )
