kona_wahine Posted December 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 6, 2018 So is it going to all be Mardi Gras themed then? Bourbon street? Will be interesting...
Thorncroft Posted December 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 6, 2018 I wish they would re-use Destiny. I liked that name. In lieu of that, Nina, Pinta or Santa Maria would've been cool.
Midwestgal Posted December 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted December 6, 2018 I seen it too. Looks different.
Mikew0805 Posted December 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted December 6, 2018 I like Mardi Gras. I didn’t get to sail on the first one... but I will sail on this one!

I could see Carnival Destiny happening in 2022, although presumably all of the retired ship names (other than perhaps “Carnivale”) are now in play.
BNBR Posted December 6, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2018 Carnival is selling it as a ground up rethinking of ship layout, etc. So I have high expectations. We will see if it's just marketing speak or if they will actually come out with something new and innovative with the layout. Hoping for the best. It is a new design and not the same old Destiny/Conquest/Dream/Vista family.
Tiger0613 Posted December 6, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 6, 2018 The picture looks like a Spirit/Dream hybrid. It has alternating extended balconies and regular balconies on each side like the Spirit class. It has what looks like cove balconies from the Dream class. It also appears to have a glass wall around all of deck 5 as well as an open space on deck 5 aft like the Dream class.
2Shoes2Go Posted December 6, 2018 #12 Share Posted December 6, 2018 The CD, Marty, on Fantasy announced it this evening. It was done simultaneously with announcement on all other ships in the fleet at 6:30 pm (7:30 est)., with a balloon drop. What a nice surprise! He pulled it from a golden envelope in the atrium. Fun! BallFour4 Posted December 6, 2018 #14 Share Posted December 6, 2018 Cool! First and second cruise were aboard the original. In 1976 I went with my family for my high school graduation and then again in 1987. .

BNBR Posted December 19, 2019 #16 Share Posted December 19, 2019 From the non-scientific comparing of deck plans, I like the Costa version better. But let's see! It's about time Carnival stepped up their game and maybe they'll nail it.

sw33twif3 Posted January 21, 2020 #21 Share Posted January 21, 2020 Did have the transatlantic scheduled, but Carnival cancelled due to delays in the shipyard providing the ship on time. But do have another cruise scheduled at same time. Was able to move the money and fees over to a new cruise. At a discount.
